Edited on Sat Dec-10-05 11:23 PM by StClone
Guess who (or what) is winning the voting. Will TIME follow suit?

5. Oh, no, no , no..THIS is the crappiest list by far
HERE is a crappy list..it is who Dallas Morning News readers have put on their wish list for Texan of the Year (I've listed here the ones most likely to induce projectile body fluids)..keep in mind, Karl Rove was the person who the paper made Texan of the Year for 2004, chimpass himself in 2003.

8. First time I read that, I thought it said

"Harriet Miers, White House Cannibal"

...and for some strange reason, it made sense.

9. Completely agree
Most of these people did not affect the news at all. People like J.K. Rowling and Lance Armstrong may be nice but they don't deserve person of the year. The list is too americentric as well.

15. Actually, J.K. Rowling is responsible
for millions of kids turning off the TV and the Xbox and actually reading a book for a change. In this day and age it's not easy to do.

12. me too
I would be ok with J.K. Rowling winning. She's gone from being dirt poor and writing on napkins while her baby slept to being rich and successful (and remarkably not annoying).

6. Funny. I don't see Cindy Sheehan on that list.

Given the amount of press she generated, I find it just a tad... odd, don't you?

10. go Bono!
but seriously, given the tsunami and katrina, it would be hard to argue for anything other than mother nature affecting the news more

but time doesn't give out the award for that reason anymore. it's treated as more of an honor (which i why they copped-out and chose rudy over osama in 2001)

11. They need to pick Katrina survivors (and those who perished)
Anyone else they pick doesn't come close to deserving it as much as these people.

only at 4%. Most others were ahead of him.

18. Nothing Against JKR
I mean, the woman is my role model. But her contribution to this year (even with the new book and movie) pales to the other people and entities on the list. Personally, I want to see the Destroyer Goddess on the cover of SLIME.

22. Stories about wizards and magic are a fun diversion...
but when mother nature is trying to tell you to wake the fuck up concerning the damage we are causing, then there is no time to be distracted.

ps. I do, in fact, like Harry Potter...but c'mon.

26. Time's Time Has Run Out...Overhyped and Boring
Anyone actually remember anyone who won these goofy "awards". All this hype...whose gonna have their mug on the cover...as though Time gets to decide who and what was important in the past year. Spare me.

It used to be that I could avoid this mess by not buying that rag of a magazine that week...now I have to flick channels to get away.
