Grandmother tasered 5 times in Ohio.

I heard about this on WFSB channel 3 (Hartford CT).

disgusting

Surveillance video shows Beverly Kidwell being Tasered by a Franklin, Ohio police officer.

She says she was in the police lobby waiting to talk to an officer, but decided to leave because it was taking so long.

Kidwell says that's when an officer came out and told her she couldn't leave, then he Tasered her five times.

"I thought he was going to kill me ... and then the next thing, he shot me again and he kept saying all the time, 'get up, get up' and I couldn't ... it paralyzes your body," Kidwell said.

1. Is that the cop who said he felt threatened
by this woman, or is this another tasering incident on a granny?

6. It's another fucking cop who thought "nonlethal" meant
"harmless" and probably hates women, especially older women.

Honestly, ID is going to have to start investigating tasering just like they investigate shots fired. Otherwise, we're going to have macho cops tasering anyone they don't like, which for a macho cop is just about everybody.

3. you left out part of the story
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 07:38 PM by WLKjr
the article also says she hit her granddaughter too. Not saying this was right to taser the old woman but still, make sure you put the whole thing up and not slant the story.

<snip>
"The police are not commenting on the story, but according to the police report, Kidwell hit her granddaughter and was being arrested.

The officer says she resisted and that's why she was Tasered.

18. DU fair use copyright rule
only allow 4 paragraphs. The OPer took the first 4.

If this woman was 'being arrested', then why wasn't she locked up where she was 'safe' and unable to leave?

38. I hate this
When a person is accused (officially or unofficially) of a crime, police misconduct is somehow exceptable if we detest the crime that is being investigated? This idea seems to spit on the Constitution and it deeply offends me.

11. Christ Almighty
He shoots her with a taser, then tells her to get up? How fucking dumb is that? I normally defend dubious actions from cops, but there is no way in hell this guy should keep his job. Finding rewarding and useful jobs for people with learning difficulties should not include weapons.

12. I don't know how big the jail is there......
but one would guess that he could of called/radio easily for immediate reinforcements to contain the situation. My thoughts are that once a potential target see's that little "red laser tag" on their chest, that they would cool their heels real fast.

Did you even read my post? I never said one way or the other about the Officer being right or wrong......Now did I!:grr:

Your attack mode and assumption attitude is pissing me off.

If you read the damn post, you will see I suggested he contain the situation in another fashion.

Now read it and get back with me.

from your post

"My thoughts are that once a potential target see's that little "red laser tag" on their chest, that they would cool their heels real fast"

What is that supposed to mean?

First you claim that backup should have been called and then you throw in this line about using the Taser.

Is that some type of laser pointer/target-type thing for a taser?

to let the potential taseree know that, if he or she does not get in line, they will be hit with a taser?

28. It means simply that
one should stop in their tracks. I do even when I watch them aim the Taser at someone....It is intimidating.......and I'm just watching.

My primary point was that there was no perceived danger or emanate threat posed by this gal wherein the Officer couldn't easily call for a few other Correction Officers or Deputies in the jail to assist. No, I've seen much worse behavior in a lobby and it was easily handled with a loud, powerful command and a tall posture.

Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 02:57 PM by JVS
If she wasn't already under arrest the reason in this story for tasering are rediculous. You don't taser people for wanting to leave the PD who haven't been arrested.

37. I'm glad that
my mother wasn't arrested and tasered many years ago when she walloped me for using a cuss word, or the few other times I got spanked for misbehaving. Of course, there were no tasers then.

I used to know someone who got off on "bondage of women." He would have absolutely loved tasering. If he were still alive, he would have one.

30. These Grandmothers are getting out of hand
So I don't get it.
The first shot put her down on the floor.
He shot her again because she wouldn't get up!
He shot her 3 more times because she wouldn't get up!

I guess he doesn't know how to use the Taser

Kidwell (Grandmother) should be able to shot this asshole 5 times so he might learn how to use it.

I might suggest that she take the wires and put them in the wall socket because the battery sounds like it might be weak! I bet he stands up just fine!!!
