What was Rove's big mistake?
Hardly novel but he failed to anticipate that Fitz would threaten reporters with jail. He's going down. Time for more popcorn and beer.

1. I hope you're right,
So far tolerating him seems to be the USA's big mistake.

6. It seems he's getting caught in lies fabricated
by him and his lawyer, and a certain Times reporter. Here's a good thread...

8. A real darn good thread here --
Fitz has a new grand jury.
& Luskin (Rove's Lawyer) and Rove digging themselves into a hole, it seems:

26. Here's how I understand the V. Novak problem
it seems Rove's lawyer, Luskin, convinced Fitz that Rove didn't lie to the grand jury, he merely forgot that he'd talked to Cooper of Time UNTIL V. Novak told Luskin Rove told Cooper. Luskin made it sound like an innocent mistake and that as soon as Rove was reminded (by the Luskin/Novak conversation) Rove immediately became forthcoming, ran to Fitz and said, "I've been reminded of something I forgot to tell you."

The problem as I see it is that the conversation between Luskin and Novak happened in March, 2004 and Rove didn't "own" up to the grand jury until October 2004.

So, if Novak told Luskin told Rove on March 1 2004 that Rove really did tell Cooper, why didn't Rove tell the GJ then? And why did they just come up with the "Novak reminded me" story now, 1.5 years later?

Pray that Rove has met his match in Fitz. And, how did it happen? Hubris. . .translation: believing your own bullshit.

17. Right.
The WHIG never anticipated that it would go beyond Attorney General Ashcroft. They were bold in their lies to the FBI. Even around the time Ashcroft was preparing to recuse himself, one of the senior White House officials told a reporter that they had "really moved the earthmovers in over this one." When Ashcroft recused himself, and Comey appointed Fitzgerald, they did not appreciate the consequences.

20. He had hired Rove
earlier in his career. When it was documented that Rove was involved, Ashcroft was forced to recuse himself.

It's a shame he did not follow his dreams for the singing career. He easily could have opened for the Bay City Holy Rollers.

23. Rove's mistake?
To me, it's not about mistakes. The problem with Rove is that he's a one-note player. He only knows how to attack. I guess the mistake was this administration's belief that they could run a country on nothing but fear. Fitzgerald revealed thier vindictiveness. Katrina revealed thier incompetance. 2149 soldiers and 30,000 (100,000) dead Iraqi's reveal their heartlessness.

Then again, If I were running their show, I would have pulled a majority of the troops out right after Hussein was captured. Then Bushco would have been untouchable against any contender. Of course, I tend to believe that capturing Hussein was an accident and that they never had any intention of ending the war.

their sources.

I'm still a little confused as to why Libby let Judith Miller talk. Was it because he thought she'd lie for him? Did he imagine that she was going to perjure herself for him?

Of course, with Rove, he let Cooper off the hook because Time had already spilled the beans by turning over their internal memos.

If the press had held solid, neither Rove nor Libby would be in trouble. Karl was counting on that.

You can't lead a life of deception, constantly trying to cover up your words and deeds. Some of them are going to leak out, opening the way to reveal the rest of them.
