Pig-boy Rush catches a break in court.
Florida Judge Upholds Rush Limbaugh's Doctor-Patient Confidentiality

Can you imagine the yelling and squealing about "activist judges" we would hear if this was Al Franken, or Randi Rhodes?

1. I didn't expect any different
However, would be curious what kind of precedent this sets for others who have been convicted for the same thing.

2. Did anyone have any doubt that this would happen?

The asshole is laughing his ass off right now and it probably didn't even cost him a cent. His RW pals were happy to pedal their influence as a favor to the mighty Rushbo.

3. Actually, this all started when pigboy got help from...
...The ACLU. That's right, Rush Limbaugh went screaming and sobbing on his knees to the ACLU for help. And they helped him. They are better people than I am, that's for sure...

9. I would have defended him but secretly stolen his records and leaked them
and then acted "shocked" when they were published in the foreign press.

That's the kind of asshole I am!

:)

12. He was totally trashed on air today
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 08:58 PM by Timefortruth
slurring, dropping things and with no attention span at all. He must have been celebrating with a mug full of Oxycotin and a bottle of beer. He was so poorly prepared that he contradicted himself midway through many bits. An accusation that a bestiality ring must have been Democratic was the highlight today.

I wondered if the dittos noticed, then laughed at the thought.

4. As Much As I Think He Should Go Down...
I have never supported violating doctor client privledge. When we strip that right for one, it is only a matter of time until it is stripped for all. There are other ways to get Rush.

5. Yes. I am amazed at how often posters here are ready to trade...
...some of their liberty for the very temporary political advantage of silencing an opposing political voice.

6. Excellent point.
Limbaugh is a scumbag...but even scumbags deserve protection under the law.

Every dog has his day. Limbaugh will get his someday.

11. Concur.
As I previously said, the ACLU are better people than I am. I could not bring myself to defend such a completely abhorrent individual such as Rush, but they are able to, because that's what they do. It's a beautiful thing that our country has an org like them to watch out for the rule of law, and our rights as citizens in these types of cases, even to the point of defending someone who has attacked them so vehemently in the past such as Rush.

7. So doctor shopping for opiates is now legal?
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 08:49 PM by tridim
Legal for both patients and doctors? Sounds like high profile drug dealing to me.

Regardless, didn't Rush buy some of his drugs from a dealer at Denny's? Is that a different charge?

Edit: Also noteworthy, I read another story today about how a bunch of LEGAL medical marijuana clubs were busted by the DEA today in California. Seems just a bit hypocritical.

10. And don't forget how doctor-patient confidentiality affects abortion law
Hopefully, the next abortion rights case will cite Florida v Limbaugh as a legal precedent to protect a woman's right to privacy.

15. What does this mean for the case?
If I'm reading this correctly, it refers to "questioning of the doctor" but it really doesn't address the medical records already in the state's possession.
