'Daily Show' halts production following suicide
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 08:28 PM by Reciprocity
<snip>
"Bill Clarey, a young staff member of 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,' passed away over the weekend. He was a wonderful and dedicated employee and all of us at Comedy Central and 'The Daily Show' are devastated by his loss. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends," the network said in a statement.

<snip>
Comedy Central has sent grief counselors to the "Daily Show" set to help its employees, sources said, who first learned of the suicide upon coming to work Monday. The network was scheduled to shoot a week's worth of new episodes before shutting down for the final two weeks of the year. The network will air a "Daily Show" repeat instead of the regularly scheduled episode.

I wouldn't be able to do a comedy show either.

3. Daily Show
That's very sad,of course, but were they going to film the shows without Jon Stewart? My daughter saw him in London on Sunday although it wouldn't be too tough to fly back to NYC on Sunday night. Just asking.

6. How sad! The best comedy has tragedy at its' heart, though, especially
in times like these. (Not that I'm trying to make the case for a causal relationship here, just an observation.)

8. My heart goes out to his family and the Daily Show's.
Jon was going to have the guy (I forget, not Jack Black though) from King Kong on tonight. I was looking forward to it. That said I have more respect for Jon not doing his show.

13. Update
While a rerun aired Monday, Stewart and cohorts were working on a new episode for Tuesday night, featuring guest Howard Stern. The Daily Show will tape new episodes for the rest of the week before going on a planned vacation for the final two weeks of the year.

15. Good.
I was wondering if there would be a new show. It must be terrible for the whole cast and crew to have to deal with this loss.
