Anyone feel like apologizing?

I realized tonight that I threw a big gob of nonsense at MrSlayer way back during the passing-of-Reagan brawlathon. I needed to apolologize for that and did, because itg was a crappy thing to have said.

Seems like a lot of people in this forum have been throwing haymakers at each other over the last several days...with more frequency and velocity than is common in this bastion of measured Socratic dialogue. ;) The Air Marshal thing, the Tookie thing...you know what I'm referring to.

Anyway, I thought I'd open a space for anyone who has blown up at anyone else to offer an apology. Agreeing to disagree is cool. Apologizing when you say something over the top, dumb, rude, insane and/or hurtful is cooler.

Last I checked, Bush still sucks, the war goes on, the economy goes down, the environment goes the way of the Dodo, the lunatics are in charge of the asylum, and I tend to agree with what 95% of DUers believe 95% of the time.

If this keeps up, I'm going to have to start telling the Brazillion joke. Over and over and over and over and over and over...

No pressure, btw. Not trying to make anyone feel bad. But this place has indeed gotten so big that the latticework of community can become badly stretched. Hope this helps to remind us that we're in it together, and that we mostly agree with the people we sometimes find ourselves yelling at.

I may have put you on ignore during a "debate" when it was better for me to keep my mouth shut rather than open it and be sorry, but I do that a lot around here. I only started my permanent ignore list after the rules about talking about ignore were changed.

I honestly haven't had time to really dig into either the Air Marshal story or the Tookie Williams story. I mean, before I have an opinion I feel like I have to at least have a cursory knowledge of the facts. But I don't, and Christmas is coming up, and I've been off making rumballs and decorating the tree and checking into DU every now and then and sort of glancing at those really long threads and going, "Hm, obviously people are torqued up about this, but I'm not sure what to think yet," and then I don't post anything, because I don't know what to think, and yet I sort of feel like a bad DU'er for not particpating in the flamefest of the day.
