How many Americans are POWs in Iraq?
These folks face the repercussions of Cheney's pro-torture policy regarding the prisoners being held by the U.S.
I truly fear for what they must be experiencing, just as I fear for those in our secret prisons.
Has anyone seen any numbers on how many of our military are captives?

4. How can you know?..
It seems to me that no one has the skinny on what is really going on there. How can they? They've got all those Private Military Co's running around, along with militias, and cops, and insurgents, it's got to be a mess. And it's not like our government would think it important to tell us...national security and all.

5. Did the US issue POW statistics during Vietnam?
I can't remember. I think they did, because I remember people wearing POW bracelets to remember those in captivity.

One would think if they made the numbers public during Vietnam, they would do it today. But Of course now we're living in the Brave New World of Bushco and CIA rendition flights and the Patriot Act.

I have this horrible suspicion that there ARE American POWs in Iraq and Afghanistan, and that very bad things are being done to them.

6. I've not heard anything
from any media sources about POW's. I know that some aid workers were kidnapped, but they're not strictly POW's in the sense that this is no longer a conventional war. The Iraqi army is 'technically' on our side.
