So, how will the neocons thwart the Dem 06 election victory?
Edited on Mon Dec-12-05 10:21 PM by TwoSparkles
Clearly, the Bush administration is headed for dire straights. His polls may have slightly ticked upward, but as 06 rolls along--and Iraq continues to fail--those polls will plummet once again.

Current polls indicate that if the 06 elections were held today--that most people would vote for Democrats, not Republicans. This trend will continue--in spades--as Iraq fails, the economy worsens, the deficit balloons, foreign relations erode, Fitzgerald hands down additional indictments and other scandals unfold.

The Reps are headed for severe defeat in 06.

I can't imagine that these fascists will play fair.

Does anyone actually believe that they'll relinquish power? I just can't see it. Am I the only one? I'm wondering what they will do to retain power.

I think they know that fixing elections this time won't help them. Election fraud can only work when the race is tight or semi-close. The elections will not be close. The neocons know this.

Is anyone else braced for some major neocon shenanigans?

3. Black.Box.Voting
They've been perfecting their techniques over the last couple of cycles, so they won't have to engage in the risky business of illegal purges of voter lists, intimidation, shortchanging dem precincts with inadequate machines (they'll WANT those machines in such precincts), or challenging those who do show up.

Since they've "proved" that exit polls are completely useless in predicting an outcome, and that a 60-40 split on Monday can turn into a 40-60 split on Tuesday, no one will bother to contest the results ever again.

And in a few more cycles, we won't need elections at all, because EVERYONE will agree that they're doing such a good job, they should stay in office forever.

Dean is right, immigration is the GOP's wedge issue in 2006.

5. How will we lose?
That's nice.

I could see it if this were a discussion of what we need to prepare for; but to just say "Well they aer going to win; so let's see how they are going to do it." Well that's just not where it's at, in my opinion.

8. They're corrupt bastards...
...and I don't underestimate their willingness to cheat, murder, lie or steal elections.

I don't think the Reps will fairly win the 06 elections.

I think the will engage in some massive, orchestrated event (or events) to affect the elections.

The Dems are on their way to many 06 landslide victories.

The neocons are evil personified. They are conscious-less pigs who have no regard for humanity, the Constitution, freedom, democracy, fairness or peace. They will do whatever it takes to remain in power--in my opinion.

7. Same as always, make believe stories about the increase in
* polls numbers 2 to 4 weeks prior to the election, Diebold, ES&S AND Sequoia vote scanners DRE'S and counting machines electronically rig the election, for the Repugs Dem's start recount lawsuits (to make us feel better), which they can't get because it was electronic ballots. We show them the numbers on how the election was stolen, they ignore us. Go about their business as if the election was just fine. Every one wins, Dem VOTERS lose.

Repeat in 2008.

12. That's the truth, kster
Dems won the last several elections but the vote was controlled by the rep-tiles and so, Dems looked like the losers.

It will happen again the same way in 2006, unless people realize that America would never elect such liars and cheaters as it appears America has.

We won before, we will win again, but with the vote stolen Dems will be back to wondering what the hell happened.

10. Given that Nixon commissioned the Rand Corporation to prepare...
a rationale for suspension of the 1972 elections -- this merely in response to anti-war protests -- I would expect more of the same from the Bush Administration: the Republican Party has always been unabashedly fascist at its core (note for example its enthusiastic support for Hitler, Mussolini and Franco).

The story of Nixon's scheme -- all the more frightening today given the fact there was little doubt Nixon would win re-election -- was broken by Newhouse News Service in the spring of 1970. It was published in most if not all Newhouse papers and picked up by the alternative press (including The Village Voice) but it was methodically suppressed by all other mainstream media. Sorry I can find no links; online archives typically don't go that far back.

In any case, given what the Republicans really are -- the U.S. version of a fascist party (with the Christian Fundamentalists as storm troopers) -- I would indeed look for severe "shenanigans" if it appears we really have a chance of taking back Congress next year: especially if the Fifth Column of the Democratic Leadership Council is neutralized and the victors are likely to be genuine New Deal Democrats.

My expectation would be some kind of let-it-happen-on-purpose event magnified into a Reichstag Fire and the resulting "emergency" spun into a rationale for suspension of the Constitution, mass arrests, concentration camps, indefinitely delayed elections, etc. ad nauseum.

Anyone who doubts this can happen need only look at the extent to which Bush has already peeled off the velvet slipper of "compassionate conservatism" to reveal the fascist jackboot beneath: the Republicans and their corporate masters have been plotting this since their earlier efforts to turn the U.S. into a fascist dictatorship were thwarted in the mid 1930s. New Orleans, I fear, is just the beginning.

11. "The elections will not be close." --TwoSparkles
They are currently testing election systems in Ohio that can flip over huge progressive votes with impunity.

This has got me worried, because I've been saying (and I think study of the 2004 election supports it) that we can beat them with sheer numbers--with good, strong, antiwar, real populist candidates and hard work to achieve a big voter revolt with massive turnout.

Recently, four Ohio ELECTION REFORM initiatives, that were predicted to win by 60/40 votes were flipped over on election day to 60/40 LOSSES--the most audacious flipover yet. (The machines and their masters are now dictating election policy and preventing reform--a chilling Orwellian twist.)

See Bob Koehler's article about the Ohio initiatives:
http://www.tmsfeatures.com/tmsfeatures/subcategory.jsp?custid=67&catid=1824

Ohio may be a special case of outrageous Bushite corruption and tyranny, but it's a safe bet that what they're doing there will be inflicted on the rest of us. They're pushing Diebold everywhere. Election officials are falling for it, or are corrupt. The fundamental facts of very bad--not just re Diebold, but for the entire election system, with most of the votes tabulated by two rightwing Bushite corporations--Diebold and ES&S--using 'TRADE SECRET,' PROPRIETARY software and firmware, with virtually no audit/recount controls.

One thing we need is INDEPENDENT EXIT POLLS. Pressure Dean and the DNC to fund them. The war profiterring corporate news monopolies DOCTORED their exit polls, late on election day, to FIT the results of Diebold's and ES&S's secret formulae, thus depriving the American public of strong evidence of a Kerry win. So we cannot trust their polls.

Also, see www.UScountvotes.org - for a project for statistical monitoring of the elections in '06. We need to challenge suspicious results and gather evidence for election reform for '08. They need donations, and are now a non-profit.
