The Death Penalty is taxpayer funded

For that reason I think the penalty is a bad idea, because there are people who oppose it for moral reasons and their taxpayer dollars go to fund that. Even if it is a punishment, I have a problem with the public funds being used for that purpose. Some might disagree with me, but that's how I think. It's about morality.

There are things I'm opposed to that my tax dollars fund.

We can't have a pick & choose system for taxes.


I am against the DP for other reasons.

but it's more expensive than life in prison.

I'm paying extra for something I abhor.

The same argument could be used by the right as far as taxes paying for education and other 'social' programs.

I oppose the DP, but it is not because that is where my tax dollars go.

when dealing with the DP the better issue is why do we kill people to show other people that killing people is wrong?

We pay for their dental work, all medication, their dialysis, hernia repairs, heart surgeries, hysterectomies, pregnancies, jail/crack babies, hemorrhoids, HIV and hepatitis treatment, x-rays of new and old for everything, new and old stab wounds,cable tv, endless jail house law suits, workers compensation for the injured Correctional Officers, replacement of broken sprinkler heads which they pull out of the ceiling to flood their cell, and commode replacements after they have shoved rolls of toilet paper in the stool......

Thats just off the top of my head. So which is more cost effective? You brought the funding and tax payment issue up.....
