Has any other election in history been conducted in this manner? I don't recall any. Do we not trust Iraqis living in that nation to be able to select their leaders? I could see if these expatriots would return to live there being allowed to vote, but I do have a problem with people who have lived for decades abroad being allowed to vote.
How do they get the ballots to the right people? How do they verify this? How are these counted? Come on - if we are Diebold here in the U.S. - does anyone really believe that an expatriot Iraqi vote is legitimate?
2. I don't know the nuts and bolts, but they did this the last election
they had. They had centers in the US where people could go to vote. I remember hearing it on NPR--one was in Nashville, I recall. So is every election going to be this way? Is this one way we make sure that Iraq selects governments we want? We select the candidates and vote for them too?
