Picture of room at Bush* farm...Does it show bad flag etiquette?
If this picture is true, isn't it bad flag etiquette to "walk" on the flag?

How about an amendment to limit uses of the flag to poles? Eliminate clothing and other take-offs of the flag.

Shitting all over a symbol is irrelevant when you crap all over real liberty and take lives every day.

6. Reminds me
the dance floor in the club in the movie "1941" had caracatures of Hitler, Tojo, and Mussolini painted on the floor, so you could dance on them.

8. The US Flag Code already prohibits flag use as clothing, etc.
but it doesn't mention "not painting it on your floor." Sheesh, I hope that pic is a phony.

SEC. 4 That no disrespect should be shown to the flag the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

(b) The flag should never touch anything beneath it, such as the ground, the floor, water,

(c) The flag should never be carried flat or horizontally, but always aloft and free.

(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free. Bunting of blue, white, and red, always arranged with the blue above, the white in the middle, and the red below, should be used for covering a speaker's desk, draping the front of the platform, and for decoration in general.

(e) The flag should never be fastened, displayed, used, or stored in such a manner as to permit it to be easily torn, soiled, or damaged in any way.

(f) The flag should never be used as a covering for a ceiling.

(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

(h) The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying or delivering anything.

(i) The flag should never be used for advertising purposes in any manner whatsoever. It should not be embroidered on such articles as cushions or handkerchiefs and the like, printed or otherwise impressed on paper napkins or boxes or anything that is designed for temporary use and discard. Advertising signs should not be fastened to a staff or halyard from which the flag is flown.

(j) No part of the flag should ever be used as a costume or athletic uniform. However, a flag patch may be affixed to the uniform of military personnel, firemen, policemen, and members of patriotic organizations. The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing. Therefore, the lapel flag pin being a replica, should be worn on the left lapel near the heart.

(k) The Flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

15. I'm a stinker.
I always tell people who advertize with the flag that they're desecrating it and it pisses them off.

Then I tell them to Google the flag code when they get half a chance. Hopefully, some of them have done it and see that what they're doing is MUCH worse than some protester burning it; afterall, burning the flag is the ONLY proper way to dispose of one.

19. How about painted on a Hummer?
Last week, as me and my liberal supervisor were on our way to lunch, we were having a discussion about global warming. As we were talking, we both saw this stretch hummer painted as the flag.:patriot: :sarcasm:

We were both speechless.

9. In Iran, after the revolution there, they would paint the
American flag on the asphalt courtyards of schools so children could march over it during the little indoctrination lessons into Khomeini's teachings that were part of the curriculum. My daughter attended a school in Iran up through sixth grade. Her teacher took her aside and apologized to her because it was a requirement and they knew I was an American. Her grandmother, a devout Moslem, told her that what they did was a sin and that she should not be upset because in the eyes of God, forcing people to do something that they don't believe or want to do is unacceptable to God and the faith. Whatever differences my mother-in-law and I had in life have always been forgiven because of that one loving statement of tolerance on her part to a very young girl forced to participate in older peoples' foolishness.

Anyway, that floor reminds me of those courtyards, and I believe, there was much hue and cry in the US over that use of the American flag in Iran. Maybe Hillary could engage in a little hue and cry now.

Posts like yours are one of the reasons why I feel I must read DU every day.

As for the tasteless bush decor
of painting the U.S. flag on the floor
bush is a patriotism whore.

18. I think you mean...
the Commander in Chimp got it wrong. He's the one who painted it, after all.

Then again, it's correct when viewed from the Glory Room's Cheerleading Trophy altar.

I misunderstood. I am thinking that you did this photo shop.

Anyway the flag has become nothing more than a foolish tool in the hands of equally foolish people.

Who really gives a shit one way or the other anymore.

17. This reminds me of the MONSTROSITY in Ashcroft's barn
He fashioned a 6-foot high replica of the Statue of Liberty out of Barbed Wire -- I suppose giving "artistic expression" to his inner feeling about Liberty.

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/time/2001/01/22/justice.html

Emperor Bush walks all over the flag of the American people, and Ashcroft imprisons Liberty in barbed wire. The NeoCon culture of corruption has many a perverse notion.
