Our Christmas Lights Accidentally Make An Anti-War Statement per a Freep:
Here near Houston it's common to wrap your outside lights around whatever's available, including the trunks of tall pines and palm trees.

Hubs wrapped the pine out front and even though the lights were all working when he tested them, once they got wrapped on the tree, half a string's not working. Thus we have about 6 feet of lights from the ground up, then three feet of darkness, then 3 feet of lights. He was out front monkeying around, checking bulbs, etc. when our idiotic Freep neighbor lady came over to say "What's up with that? It looks like a black armband. I s'pose it's a protest about Iraq, right?"

He stopped trying to find the bad bulb. Those lights are staying EXACTLY as they are.

5. Ho ho!
Isn't it interesting that the symbolism was first seen by a freeper? Perhaps there is hope after all.

6. Why can't they use that kind of brain power on things that matter?
Clearly, it's a leap and one she had to think about for at least a nanosecond to make. That means that there are some neurons snappin' away in there.

But, rather than use that faint glimmer of intellectual curiosity on, oh I don't know, any one of Georgie Boy's dumb ass ideas, she pours it into your christmas lights' "hidden meaning."

I wish there was a smiley for the "slapping my forehead in disbelief" motion.

8. LOL. She has a cousin in the Green Zone and says he "Loves it"
there--steak and lobster and shrimp buffets all the livelong day--so much food that they have to throw it out. So she thinks it's like a resort.

10. Thank you for your condolences. Worst part: She's an elementary school
teacher. Thank Jah she's quit to stay home with her kids--otherwise my kids would have her for Music class. Oy.

(She's the one who was annoyed that we gave some hurricanes French names. I'm not kidding.)

14. you could always have a "St. Tropez Party" in the spring
Edited on Tue Dec-13-05 10:55 AM by dusmcj
got that nice warm climate, invite a few friends over for a costume party on the lawn - have a blast getting together expensive sunglasses, little black dresses and elbow length gloves for the ladies, khaki slacks, dress shirts and scarves for the men, a cooler full of champagne, plates of Brie and bunches of grapes. (Or if you don't like those, choose similarly expensive foods that you do - the play's the thing here...) Hire some waiters and have a classy garden party. You'll enjoy it, and it'll scare the * out of your neighbor. They want 'leet, we can give them 'leet.

edit: it occurs to me, you could always offer her to get an old fridge and a junk car on blocks to put on the lawn to make her feel more at home. Should she raise the subject again...
