Newsweek's Fineman blasts Bob Woodward
Newsweek's Fineman blasts Bob Woodward
Political reporter says famed journalist's mission has changed

BY NAVID IQBAL
DAILY RECORD

MADISON -- Howard Fineman, Newsweek's chief political correspondent, said Monday night in the first program of a Drew University lecture series, that Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward had become a "court stenographer" for the Bush administration.

Standing before a crowd of nearly 300, Fineman, said Woodward went from being an outsider "burning the beltway"with his investigative work in the 1970s Watergate scandal under President Nixon to being, " an official court stenographer of the Bush administration."

1. They're eating their own now.
And I completely agree with Fineman. "Court stenographer" is the perfect analogy for the sad decline of Woodward's career path.

2. That's good, but it's hard to forget Fineman and W's silver belt buckle.
Once upon a time, he rhapsodized about that cowboy buckle in "Newsweek" -- I think that was the year he won the late MWO's Mediawhore of the Year award, by a hefty margin.

5. If a ho like Fineman has turned on Woodward
then I believe the Post management (which also owns Newsweek) has been giving signals that its OK to pile on him and I predict he will be "spending more time with his family" in the near future.

6. Howard, the Duck, could regain some serious credibility if he proceeds
to eviscerate the rest of the administration's stenography pool. Howie, step up and earn your stripes again.

7. Newsweak Is Getting A "Tude"
I saw Evan Thomas on C-SPAN this morning getting some pretty nasty shots from the wingnuts and Peter and you could see he was pissed. Looks like Newsweek is (and yes I know I mispelled their name when I used Newsweek) trying to rub it in Time and the WAPO...Feinman, Thomas and even Isikoff (:puke:) have written and said some critical things about this regime as of late. Of course the wingnuts think this is "librul media", but Thomas looked not only tired with that characterization but offended. Looks like all those years of baiting the corporate media to the right and shut out other voices is starting to really backfire. Thomas' article really has the wingnuts in a tizzy.
