Tookie injection observers all over cable news: What is going on?
Why is it news for the cable stations to questiona reporter who "won" the right to observe the lethal injection and to watch a man die?
Why do we even want to know what they think? How is that newsworthy? I simply do not understand.

What am I missing here?

The ultimate convergence of the National Infotainment State and privatized prisons.

15. It may be the only way to produce so much revulsion in the people,
that the whole sick practice will be abolished. Mandatory attendance!

14. A friend who drives a lot keeps a digital handy for shots of bad accidents
then he tries to sell them to attorneys and newspapers. His scrapbook is large, and I have no interest in seeing it.

5. I think that
the "value" is to let people know that this human being did not just gently fall asleep after his lethal injection--he was writhing around even though strapped down.
I think they were also to some extent trying to show the efforts by some of his support group who were supposedly mouthing "I love you," that people were trying to give him some comfort in his final conscious moments.
I have to admit, though, it was too much like taking my dog to the vet for the final visit for me to be able to listen for long.

11. As it says in the true song "Dirty Laundry":
It's interesting when people die.

This is the core principle of television reporting and one of an infinity of reasons why "television news" is a contradiction in terms.

12. I had a feeling it would be this way.
It's why I haven't turned on the news today. I don't WANT to know the morbid details! It's bad enough they did it at all.

16. Had I known they were holding a lottery for witnesses, I would have, too
But learning about it fresh, with the witnesses preening about how it struck them - that was not pleasant.
To make it worse, the questioners were - well - really bloody stupid.

Who here wrote that the fourth estate has become the fifth column? How true.
