Pentagon Plans Massive $300 MILLION Propaganda Campaign
(Kpete: I thought they were already doing this?)

Pentagon Plans Massive Propaganda Campaign
"A $300 million Pentagon psychological warfare operation includes plans for placing pro-American messages in foreign media outlets without disclosing the U.S. government as the source," USA Today reports.

"Run by psychological warfare experts at the U.S. Special Operations Command, the media campaign is being designed to counter terrorist ideology and sway foreign audiences to support American policies. The military wants to fight the information war against al-Qaeda through newspapers, websites, radio, television and 'novelty items' such as T-shirts and bumper stickers."

"The program will operate throughout the world, including in allied nations and in countries where the United States is not involved in armed conflict."

Pentagon rolls out stealth PR
By Matt Kelley, USA TODAY

1. CNN International
Already does it. The owner of the cablevision company in Northern Holland already tried to remove it - but was pressured by political forces to ensure that all Dutch people are force fed American propaganda 24/7.

10. Of course....
CNN 's history of voluntary cooperation with PSYOPS troops is also worth considering. In March 2000, FAIR and international news organizations revealed that CNN had allowed military propaganda specialists from an Army PSYOPS unit to work as interns in the news division of its Atlanta headquarters.

8. I mentioned this before
Because I have a number of people who have done nothing but parrot Bush talking points for over two years at www.expatforums.org - the largest and busiest forum in continental Europe for english speakers (over a quarter million posts).

I was called nuts and paranoid by other DU'ers.

DUTCH CIA-AGENT TURNS WHISTLEBLOWER

25th of January 2004 / Brussels, Europe
by Lightscion.com

A Dutch forum propagandist by the appropriate name of Eddy_Smith has
responded to his personal moral qualms by announcing the end of his
service. He is no longer ready to assume his lying, distorting and
ridiculing function as a CIA-paid propagandist. Eddy_Smith (real name
unknown) has been doing his work on the readers' forum of Belgian weekly
magazine “Knack” for over two years. As one of the several propagandists
working there, his task was to discredit any contributions that did not
fall into place with the Bush agenda. This ranges from ridiculing
alternative views on 9/11 up to prevention of public inquiries into the
CIA's work in Belgium. In short, he was a spook, a spy, an agent in
disguise of a genuine internaut, like so many others who have infiltrated
the worldwide web since Bush Sr. took over the CIA in 2000. Ever since he
joined the forum, Eddy was suspected to be working on behalf of the CIA ,
and I know several others are still performing the same duties, there and
on so many other forums on the www.

14. Protect this guy. Help Sibel Edmonds' NSWBC get their new bill passed...

This was just talked about on GovExec.com yesterday that Sibel Edmonds' NSWBC group just proposed a bill to protect security whistleblowers and criminalize retaliation against them. Help protect AMERICAN whistleblowers (who are now intimidated because of the judicial branch's failing of Sibel Edmonds' cases earlier). At least this guy is Dutch, so maybe that government will protect him.

Send a note to your congress critter on this bill. This is the first way we can help "free" our whistleblowers here! If enough people send their congress people notes demanding that this legislation get looked at, maybe we can help make a difference, and get rid of this sort of fascist propaganda in the process too!

4. They're spending our tax dollars like it was play money.

But then, that's the way it has been for the last five years. Nothing ever changes.

6. Yup! They are propagandizing here and abroad. Remarkable,...
,...huh. Such activities are in total defiance of "democracy" and, well, they are getting away with it by calling it a "war of ideas" or some such stuff.

They've ruined this country. ;(

11. Even more of a shame is that this propaganda campaing wont' work
Especially amongst the media savvy people living outside of the US. This money would be much better spent in rebuilding New Orleans, paying down the US debt, or hundreds of other programs. But rather than perform actions which would put the US in a more favorable light in the world, we're going to continue to commit murder, theft, genocide, and other crimes, but try to smooth it over with words:eyes:
