Did you hear Bush say Rumsfeld is doing a "heckuva job"?
I forget which of his whirlwind of recent interviews it was in (Brit Hume, Brian Williams?), but when he was asked about Rumsfeld, he said the Defense Secretary was doing a "heckuva job".

In the context of recent "Bush's bubble" stories, this pretty much proves how out of touch he is. Not because Rumsfeld is in fact not doing a heckuva job, although he clearly is not. No, what amazed me was that Bush seems blissfully unaware that his earlier "heckuva job" comment about failed FEMA administrator Michael Brown made him a national laughingstock. The line was repeated for weeks by late-night comedians, and has become a universal buzz phrase typifying the president's abject cluelessness.

So, how in holy hell could he make an ass of himself by using this hot-button phrase again, this time about another failed administration official? Talk about a Bubble Boy. Sheesh.

3. He's clueless
I don't think he knows, or cares, about public opinion. That's Rove's job, not his.

5. I wasn't paying attention
but some commentator on Today or CBS quoted that and then said,"We've heard that before." I took that as a reference to Michael Brown.
