2. through the caymans. jamaica or mexico. google around.

Cayman has travel agents that book junkets to Cuba and tell you how to do it (cash only, etc.). If I understand correctly the Cubans don't stamp your passport.

Cayman Air has regularly scheduled flights.

4. Go to Cancun and check it out.
You can look at travel guides and internet sources such as lonelyplanet.com which has a regular thread devoted to traveling to Cuba. It is also possible to fly through Canada.

15. Canada now requires a US passport
I think beginning in Jan.

So, you are being tracked if you go through Canada.

6. hypothetically, one would go to canada or mexico
first and then to cuba. the trick is making sure your passport doesn't get stamped entering or exiting cuba.

7. That's some freedom we Americans have. The govt prohibits us from travel
The best way to travel to Cuba, is via Canada, Mexico, and just about any other country. They're allowed to travel to Cuba. Only Americans are not.

8. I am told that Guadeloupe has a direct flight to Cuba
I know some non US citizens who flew to Guadeloupe (Caribbean island, south of Antigua) and then got a direct flight to Cuba. Their passport wasn't stamped in Cuba.

9. Fly to Mexico/South/Central America, Canada or Europe
Edited on Thu Dec-15-05 08:03 PM by Solly Mack
from there, buy a ticket to Cuba (use cash) - once in Cuba, tell'em you're an American and they won't stamp your passport. Use cash - just cash. Only cash.

It's not exactly illegal to "visit" Cuba - it's illegal to spend money there... the Trading With the Enemy Act prohibits Americans from spending money there.

hypothetically speaking

13. You're Canadian. You can do that.
We cannot. We have to take a circuitous route.

Remember that whole Bay of Pigs thing? We're still paying for it down here. Stupid travel policies are still in place.

14. Our Canadian nephew got married in Cuba
last month. All the family flew out of Vancouver, except one brother who flew from Toronto. Plenty of package deals from Canada - Cuba is their hottest vacation destination.

They don't stamp US passports but, mine is an EU (British) passport so I had to use charm.

NO Credit Cards (paper trail). Our Canadian relatives booked the tix, we paid them.

Buy NOTHING!! No cigars, no stupid teeshirts, no booze, no gifts. Check all pockets/purses for any receipts or make a point to dispose of same when they are given. We know someone that got caught by having a bar tab in his pocket.

Have fun.

20. Time travel?
My dad went there several times in the '40's when in the Merchant Marine. And an old BF said he went from Key West to Havana by ferry (?) with his folks in the '50's.
