Thank you Senator McCain...

I am not a huge fan of yours and I despise what you party has come to represent but I must offer my thanks for passing the Anti-torture amendment. It was your sacrifice for our country that gave you the moral authority to drive this issue through our corrupt government. By it's passing and widespread support, you have finally offered some hope that all Republicans aren't complete and total slimy pigs. While I don't believe for a second that BushCo will actually follow the law, I'm glad that you helped not only vindicate our position but you also showed the rest of the world that there are still a few Americans with some common decency. You have done an honorable thing today and you have earned the thanks of at least one Liberal, Progressive, Poor, Anti-War, tin-foil-hat-wearing American. I'll probably never like you very much but at least now, you've earned some respect. Thank you Senator John McCain for publicly opposing torture. And Merry Christmas to you sir, Merry Christmas.

in that it specifies detainees in our custody. So then, don't we just hand over these folks to torture friendly nations.

We'll just "outsource" our torture.

John McCain is my senator and although I'm not terribly fond of the man I do have to commend him for the stand he took against torture. He did the honorable thing!

Why in God's name must we have this Back room deal cut with our President against torture? The entire Senate should rise up in cries of disgust against this issue, yet we feel so powerless as a electorate body, that we celebrate when some small bread of justice is thrown our way. I am not thankful, in fact I am outraged as hell that it even had to go this way. I ask each and every one of you to remember what it is to be moral and right and demand it of all the reps we have. This is not a time of gratitude, but a time of shock and anger at the expectations that are not being met. This should not even be an issue, nor a concern in this, my country.
