AFA: Wal-Mart Preparing to Offer Another Carrot to GLBT Community
Wal-Mart Preparing to Offer Another Carrot to GLBT Community

By Fred Jackson and Jody Brown
December 15, 2005

(AgapePress) - The American Family Association (AFA) is expressing disappointment and concern over a pro-homosexual seminar being held on Friday at Wal-Mart's headquarters in Arkansas.

AFA spokesman Randy Sharp says his organization has obtained a copy of a Wal-Mart staff memo inviting home office associates to a seminar on December 16 entitled "Why Market to Gay America?" The memo, dated December 8, notes that America's homosexual community has $610 billion in purchasing power, and that the seminar -- sponsored by Wal-Mart's Office of Diversity -- will "provide insight into the purchasing decisions of GLBT customers."

Sharp says Wal-Mart has long been seen as a shopping place that supports family values. But now, he says, that image is in question.

"Basically what they're doing is they're giving their stamp of approval on homosexuality, recognizing it as a facet in America that deserves their support and their encouragement," he says. "And they want their business."

1. WalMart has a real, real long way to go to market well
to GLBT's. . .and the little fascist AFA needs to get it's head out of its own butt. Gay Americans happen to be MEMBERS of families, so this "family values" 1950's fantasy crap is just that - crap.
The AFA needs to stop attacking American families that choose not to embrace its narrow religious industry.

2. I just finished the High Cost of Low Prices. I shall never walk in
a WalMart store again.

I knew that they were an evil corporation, but after seeing that movie, I can say that they are SOOOOOO evil.

Well, at least they won't miss what they don't have.

5. I knew about the abuses. And I bought two copies for gifts. But
I hadn't seen it. Thought I would watch after Christmas. My video store had a copy. So I though, why not? It is so, what's a good word, vivid? It's all right there.

4. i haven't been in a wal-mart in 6 years and even a boycott by the AFA
won't get me to walk in their door. Good i hope the AFA does boycott them and i hope other groups follow suit until Wal-mart is out of business.

6. They'll have to get a lot more Pottery Barn to get my gay ass in their
stores - to say nothing of their horrid employment practices.

7. Why Market to Gay America?
Because, generally, they are better educated, have more money & spend more money than average.
