From our own Karendc, who was at the Kerry event discussed today
She's kinda new, and so I don't think she can start threads yet.

But as someone who was at the party where Kerry made his comment, I thought her perspective was important enough to warrant a new thread.

One of my old college professors used to say that first-hand sources are always the best...

...since I was there, and saw and heard exactly what was said, and how, let me say to you:

not drunk
not running at the mouth

completely focused
completely enjoying himself among friends
talking through the issues
mentioning the "i" word with a twinkle in his eye, 'cause he knew people were thinking about it

Does anyone care to know the truth?

No *handlers* were spotted, BTW. It was almost all friends, except of course for whomever decided their own ego needed elevating via Wonkette. yeeccchhh. Off to wash my hands now...

2. "Does anyone care to know the truth?"
No.

Most just want to follow the handlers on this. You're putting people in a very awkward position.

3. Too much, too little, too late to have much ado about
anything anymore.

He washed his hands of the contested 2004 election and thus convinced me to vote Green going forward. With Dems like these (Kerry, H. Clinton, etc.) who needs Republicans? I'm glad for his ephany, but I'm happier that it happened as a Senator and not as POTUS. While he would be much better for us than the current POS, Kerry would not fight for it. Nor would he champion universal verified voting standards. This how a winner becomes a loser. When I see Green on the ballot, I'm voting for that candidate.

14. yes, because it has no chance

The hard work is actually defeating the Republicans in 2006.

BTW you know damn well that Howard Dean does not like lobbyist money.

Thats why I also say you are taking the easy way out because you are not paying attention to whats really going on and just relying on the same old stereotypical BULLSHIT.

6. Eh, let Mr. "Dime's Worth of Difference" go if he wants to
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 01:01 AM by LittleClarkie
If that's an example of his powers of observation, that Kerry and Clinton are alike, then we'd be better off without.

"Nor would he champion universal verified voting standards."

I see more misinformation, or disinformation, on DU than I do in the MSM.

10. Yikes.
(It's not just your post) but, I have been there: My party or nothing. The Greens are fragmenting the cause.

So, I have fragmented from the DINO party. I just believe that true Democratic ideals are now found elsewhere.

13. No, it's the quoted error
It's not true. Has nothing to do with party. Has to do with people who have either never bothered to go beyond their own ideology to seek the truth, or are so wrapped up in their ideology that they don't care about repeating lies.

"On February 17th Senators John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer and Frank Lautenberg introduced S 450 the “Count Every Vote Act of 2005” to fully fund the Help America Vote Act, fund the activities of the Election Assistance Commission, and help states invest in better voting machines with paper trails."

8. Making a big fat joke about impeachment is a turn off to many
It could sound as though he is mocking those who are for impeachment.

And being a calculating politician, Kerry apparently realized this, thus asked his staffers and friends, not to tell anyone.

9. If you say so
Your interpretation of course.

But you weren't there.

And Karen was.

Believe what you want. Some of us know Kerry didn't mean it that way.

15. Except he wasn't mocking anyone
He made a crack about impeachment and taking back the house. Somebody would really have to be working overtime on the hatred to believe the total of a Senator's policies or agenda could be summed up in a party joke.
