4. Yes it is. Really ticks me off too
That was my drive-to-work entertainment. It was edgy, funny and a great wake-me-up on the drive in. I'll miss it.

It's being replaced by an early show with Mark Riley solo, followed by a few hours of Rachel Maddow then on into the Springer, Franken, Randi, etc. line-up.

6. True, but it's gonna be sad without stuff like Brian from Everett
calling in and doing his songs :P

7. I'll miss it.
I didn't always agree with Mark, but his show was great entertainment when I was getting ready for work. The skits were really funny.

What was the reasoning for taking Morning Sedition off the air? Now I have to wait to 3 PM for Randi, followed by the Majority Report and Malloy. Springer and Franken are boring.

9. Well, you'll still have Mark Riley in the morning, followed by Rachel
Maddow.

As to the reason for the change, I'm not 100% clear, but it appears to be a combination of contract issues with Maron, and business choices by Danny Goldberg.

10. Boo hoo - It's twue, it's twue!
Thanks for the insight, everyone. The whole thing seems a little mysterious to me. Too bad, I liked that show.

I know some here don't like Franken, but I do. Tuning in now.

19. Can we just agree that Goldberg is a dick?
I love Rachel, and I'm glad that Riley's going to get a two hour slot as well, but damn, I am going to miss Maron something fierce.

20. I would trade Maddow and Riley for 1 Maron...
Maddow bores me to tears... She puts me to sleep.

I've loved hearing podcasts of her 5am show.

24. Morning Sedition was a good mix.
Perhaps uneven, but they stuck their necks out. And it was a strong counterpoint to the typical AAR show.

Everything from insightful interviews to frat house humor. I'll really miss it. Riley is a good man, and he was great balancing the lunacy of Maron. And I like Rachel. Her show was perfect for me as a companion for my first cup of coffee. Now I'll miss a lot of her show for work.

21. They had just enough in-jokey stuff to make it fun
You really did have to tune in more than a couple times to get a lot of the stuff, but it was well worth it.

It probably turned off some casual listeners. And I think some people thought it was a little too morning-zooish. But what do they know?

26. LAWTON was the only reason I listened to MS!
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 12:51 PM by janx
And his schtick was always the same--he'd babble for awhile, then burst into tears, then SNAP back into his former, cheerful babbling or even say something mean.

It was incredibly funny.

23. I'll miss the whole thing!
It was the whole combination of comedy bits with unique characters that brilliantly captured the stupidity of the RW and * supporters, Maron's wonderful neurotic angst, news and pretty good analysis, music, wide ranging guests, etc., etc. It was also the superb match of Mark and Marc--they just seemed to click.

Excuse me while I retreat to my room to deal with the withdrawal symptoms...

30. I'm with you...
I'm terribly sad at the loss of Morning Sedition and my drive to work will never be the same. I loved Cardinal Milfington (sp?) as well as Lawton. Some of the shticks were too much and not funny, but on a whole it was a great show!

31. It's gonna be hard
to replace. My morning routine is just not going to be same. I'm still holding out hope that some of the comedy bits will resurface in some other AAR shows or in a different time slot, but it sounds like there were some pretty hard feelings between Marc and AAR management (specifically Danny Goldberg). Personally, I think it was a stupid decision. I don't think they had any clue about what they had there and I don't think they ever did the proper promotion to build the audience and affiliates.
