'Body Worlds' exhibit -- Fascinating? Creepy? Both?
There was a recent cover story in the StarTribune about a traveling exhibit coming to the Minnesota Science Museum -- "Body Worlds: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies." The exhibit features real cadavers posed with skin removed to reveal skin and muscle structures, etc. Follow link to story below:

Have you seen it? Would you go? On one hand, I think it would be very interesting, but on the other hand, dead bodies just kinda give me the creeps....

2. The one I'm really unsure about it is the pregnant woman one....
especially considering that my wife and I are expecting.

3. Saw it in Chicago...
It is kind of weird. The bodies are covered with a plastic substance, so if you don't think about it, you sort of forget that they are real bodies. It is fascinating and educational. I wouldn't take young kids...

5. You should go unless you're extremely squeamish
I just saw it in Philadelphia. I'm not dying to see dead bodies in general, but it wasn't troublesome at all, just very informative, interesting, and beautiful.
Kids, unless very young, generally don't have a problem with it either.

6. I wouldn't consider myself to be sqeamish, it more about getting past
the idea that these displays used to be people. From everything I've read, it does sound like it's not to be missed.

7. Used to be people, yes. People who valued education so much
that they donated their bodies to be used for for that purpose. I think it's a good thing to honor their request.

11. Actually most of the bodies are Chinese prisoners
Who's bodies were not claimed. If you look you will notice almost every one of the bodies is Asian. I know they claim they were donated, and I am sure a handful are, but most are the unclaimed prisoners.

20. I did research on the internet about this topic
While their PR says the bodies are all donated. The person who is running the show in NYC, which it is now showing, admits that the prisoner's bodies were used.

10. I went to it
It does have a bit of an impact on people. I am an EMT and I have seen plenty of dead bodies. I have to say though this did give me a bit of a creepy feeling. I mean these were people at one time, now they are spending enternity playing chess or whatever. Still it was an educational and interesting experience.

17. Gunther von Hagens did a televised autopsy over here in 2002
and at the start of this year, a fascinating four part series called "Anatomy for Beginners". I've never been to one of his exhibits, but find what he has done with the "plastination" process really very interesting.

21. Yes! I can't wait--going in NYC early next year
I'm taking my girlfriend who is somewhat squeamish, so she might have to step out, but I will be there happily with sketchbook in hand. I would love to take a medical human anatomy course and dissect a person. It's just that I like looking at the mechanical structures under the skin--I used to sketch out of Gray's Anatomy all the time.

22. Very interesting but
too much artistic license. "Wing man" was over the top. It WAS fascinating to see the muscular structure of a horse.
