What's with Hegel?
He seems to be a maverick; a thorn in the sides of this B* administration

I've heard/read the stuff about Diebold and his election

What gives?

1. If he runs for president and is nominated he would be very
difficult to defeat.

4. As if Chuck Hagel needs to rig elections to get elected in Nebraska!
LOL.

Hagel's a good man. The "rigged-election" crew fantasizes about him because he is a part-owner of a company that makes voting machines. But it's mostly bullshit, as usual.

8. Uh... no.

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0225-05.htm

excerpt:
"Republican Senator Chuck Hagel disclosed in public documents that he was the Chairman of American Information Systems and claimed between a $1 to 5 million investment in the McCarthy Group. In 1997, American Information Systems purchased Business Records Corp. (BRC), formerly Texas-based election company Cronus Industries, to become ES&S. One of the BRC owners was Carolyn Hunt of the right-wing Hunt oil family, which supplied much of the original money for the Council on National Policy.

In 1996, Hagel became the first elected Republican Nebraska senator in 24 years when he did surprisingly well in an election where the votes were verified by the company <where> he served as chairman and maintained a financial investment. In both the 1996 and 2002 elections, Hagel’s ES&S counted an estimated 80% of his winning votes. Due to the contracting out of services, confidentiality agreements between the State of Nebraska and the company kept this matter out of the public eye. Hagel’s first election victory was described as a “stunning upset” by one Nebraska newspaper."

If you are the chairman of the company, have at least $1 million invested in the product of the company, and then become the first Republican elected in 24 years in an election in which your own software counts 80% of the votes, and said software cannot be independently validated ... you should expect some skepticism about how your GOP tush got in.

9. I think you have your rose colored glasses on.

I think you need to review how he hide his involvement in ESS. How he won in strong Dem areas. How he worked for ESS and suddenly resigned to run (never having ran for office before) to run for US Senate, beating a popular Governor.

Nothing to see? Of course he is popular. The Omaha Werid Herald has a woody for him. Not much objective news in that state. Do you think you are getting objective news in a state that is still supporting Bush?

Come on!

10. He Smells of Good Cop/Bad Cop to me
He's a personal friend of the Bush Dynasty, and next in line to occupy the residence IMO. Americans love a maverick, of course they'll vote for him. Come 2008 he'll be the anti-Bush, in a world of Bush fatigue, while the Democratic candidate will be Bush-lite -- sour taste - less filling ;) He'll landslide in like Reagan. (Maybe I'm just having a cynical day.)
