1. Having the ring of truth or plausibility but actually fallacious: a specious argument.
2. Deceptively attractive.

Sometimes the SIMPSONS are so dead on, it is not funny. In Season 7 they did a episode called “POLICE PREPARE FOR DEPORTATIONS” many would remember it as the “Bear Patrol” episode. I want to paint the story, and tell you why it is relevant to today.

Some bears got into the trash, so the people complained. In response the “outcry” the mayor of Springfield started a “Bear Patrol” a full scaled assault, Bear Patrol Stealth bombers, a “patrol” car on every street…

Anyway, Homer said the “Bear Patrol” was working…

Lisa said, “That’s Specious Reasoning, By your definition I can say this rock keeps tigers away”

Homer, “How does it work?”

Lisa, “It doesn’t, but you do not see any tigers do you?”

Homer, “Lisa, I will buy that rock from you”

This is Specious Reasoning, and the Republicans are using it all over the place. Example, “Bush is a great President, because we have not had any terrorist attacks” or “It is because of the Patriot Act that we have not had any terror attacks” This is simply not true, there is far to few data points to make such a statement, thus Specious Reasoning.

This is a word we need to use a lot, specious. Their Argumets are specious, the reasoning is specious.

They use this for all things, tort reform, Social Security, War on Terror, all of this is a joke, it is Specious Reasoning!

We are not going to buy your Rock Republicans, you are using scare tactics to get what you want, and I say NO MORE. I no longer live in fear of your “terrorist”. Your new interaction of the “communists” will not work on me. Take your Rock, and stick it in your ass.
