Startling sight: Women of Iraq now wearing abbayas.

Have you noticed this in the Iraqi Election coverage? Pre-invasion they dressed in mostly Western clothes, withthe exception of the elder women.

Now every single one of them is draped in black.

1. Before the war Israel, Lebanon and Iraq had the most freedom for women.
Women and children always suffer the msot during war and under a theocracy. :cry:

2. One of the many unfortunate results of the US invasion The islamist
right have been enforcing strict islam rule over women. There have been reports of beatings if a women was not shrouded.
