BREAKING: SCOOTER LIBBY SHOWS UP AT CHENEY'S CHRISTMAS PARTY
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 04:12 PM by Halliburton
I stumbled upon this while on google. Wonkette, a DC gossip blog is reporting that Scooter showed up at Cheney's party

http://www.wonkette.com/politics/scooter-libby/index.php#wonkette-partycrash-fun-with-dick-and-lynne-143682

<snip>
Last night’s holiday party with the Cheney’s had all the action missing from the White House event. And it wasn’t just the fancy paperweights they gave out as gifts or Donald Rumsfeld’s heated arguments with lefty reporters on the scene. Scooter Libby himself was the surprise guest. Those waiting in line for a photo with the VP and Lynne Cheney were shocked to see Libby and his wife make the scene. Staying true to form, he cut to the front of the line, posed with the Cheneys, then mingled with guests for about 20 minutes before disappearing into the night. While most were not shy about chatting up the VP’s former chief of staff, Time’s Mike Allen was the first journalist to snuggle up to the man directly. Guess Allen needed a break from telling everyone in earshot that Bono is going to be Time’s Person of the Year.

:wow:

1. Wow -- Bono as Person of the Year?
I'd prefer Cindy but I'll take Bono any day (if it's true).

Bono Dines With Jesse Helms Before U2 Show

December 13, 2005, 5:43 PM EST

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Bono and Jesse Helms?

Not only are they friends, but the Irish rocker and archconservative former North Carolina senator also share a common cause: fighting AIDS in Africa.

Before U2 opened to a raucous crowd of 17,000 at the city's new downtown arena, Bono had dinner with Helms. "He (Bono) called us a couple of weeks ago and said he wanted to see his old friend the senator," said John Dodd resident of the Jesse Helms Center, who accompanied Helms and other family members to Monday's meeting.

Since they were introduced several years ago, the Republican Helms and Bono have become close allies in the fight against the AIDS epidemic in Africa.

Helms, who is 84 and suffers from a number of serious health problems, arrived backstage before the show and was joined by Bono for a casual meal. On the menu: grilled chicken, roast beef and salmon.

"It was nothing fancy," Dodd said. "They ate in the cafeteria with the roadies and the rest of the crew."

The two men talked for a few minutes about their work and what they have been able to accomplish and what still needs to be done, Dodd said. Bono briefed the senator on DATA -- or Debt, AIDS, Trade in Africa -- a nonprofit organization he helped found in 2002 with other activists to increase awareness of the crises in Africa.

Did Helms stay for the concert? "No, he didn't," Dodd said. "He has been to a U2 show before, but he was tired after traveling back from Raleigh earlier in the day."

5. Bono??? Now, that would be awesome!
I'm a huge U2 fan, and I think it would be amazing for Bono to be named Person of the Year.

He truly is a great man, a giving man, a humanitarian. He has an uncanny ability to bring polar opposites together. He asks for awareness, not money. And he still puts on the world's greatest rock show.

Now, I'm going to be all disappointed if it's not Bono. :-)

3. Mike Allen is the biggest shill. I don't know why he even pretends
to be a journalist. He's so obvious. At least Armstron Williams was more subtle.

4. I totally agree and hate to see his mug
on any of the talk shows. He's SO obvious and not what should be expected from a journalist.
