I am an Athiest and a Progressive and I say Happy Holidays!
Let me also say to the evangelicals to get over yourselves - and please stop trying to shove your religious views in the political area.

It does NOT BELONG THERE.

4. I wonder if that's where the christo-taliban newbies now posting
on this forum come from? the O'Really faction?

3. I'm Atheist and Progressive to and I say Merry Christmas, I just don't...
mean that in any religious sense. Personally I think the whole "Christmas" "Holidays" argument is silly. I too hate religious evangelicals trying to shove their religion down others thoughts. I hate it with a passion. But I've been celebrating Christmas since I was a kid, in a non religious way, and I'm not going to start saying Happy Holidays just cause the Religious right want to make an issue out of something that isn't one. There are a LOT more pressing issues out there now to be worried about this.

6. Well said
I say "Merry Christmas" just because that's the way I was brought up, not to shove some values in someone's face.

8. until this year, i've said both for all of my life ...
because the christo-taliban is making this NON-issue, a war of mass distraction, an eeeesssshuuuu - i'm ending the practice of 55 years of my (of saying both) and will be saying "happy holidays" instead -

when they decide to drop nonsense, i will go back to doing what we've always done in this culture for all my life - and say merry christmas and happy holidays, depending on the recipient of my message.

5. thank you! I've had it too.
Just today I said "Happy Holidays" and as told "no, not happy holidays! Merry Christmas!" so I wished this jerk a Happy Solstice.

It's making me hate this holiday. They have to meddle everywhere! Let me say what I want to say, and stop your stupid pissing and moaning.

11. I like the idea of Happy Solstice - to me that makes all the sense in the
world anyway - because this IS the Winter Solstice after all, and it's why xmas is being celebrated at this time. they took the pagan holiday and tried to convert it to a religious thing.

16. I'm a Christian and I say "Happy holidays"
Because I would never assume that the person I'm talking to isn't a Hindu, Jew, Muslim, Buddhist, Wiccan, etc, or atheist.
