Some Refreshing Candor From David Brooks
David Brooks was on tonight's News Hour touting Bush's four recent speeches (is that all there have been).

Then they're talking about the election in Iraq, and Brooks repeated made statements like "if we're going to come up in the polls."

It was refreshing to see a right-wing propagandist finally be honest about just whose interests he supports. From what I understand, Brooks at least pretends to think he's a journalist. These statements made it oh-so-clear that he has no interest in journalism.

1. The Right hates him, too, as too moderate
Normally I would say that's a good thing, but I see Brooks as another shill for his "class" and the Bush Administration.

2. He also wanted explanation for warrantless NSA searches
Edited on Fri Dec-16-05 07:00 PM by MissWaverly
he said the administration should be up front with the American people on this one,
he said the defeat of Patriot Act extension tied to concern about warrantless searches,
Mark Shields agreed.

3. Brooks is a little fairer-minded than other Republican pundits
he's ok to read, actually a pretty interesting writer. That being said you need to have a highly tolerant bullshit level to read him all that much. He gets paid for his opinion and if you get paid for that then often the journalism part of it isn't all that strong in the end.
