No Bush family island visit to Florida this year

The Bush family, including former president George H. Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush - along with gubernatorial son Jeb and their siblings, children and grandchildren, won't be making their annual Christmas Week pilgrimage to Boca Grande this year.

Andy Nagle, manager of the Gasparilla Inn where the Bush family has traditionally stayed for five days between Christmas and New Year's, said Thursday that the former and current first family has decided to vacation elsewhere - destination unknown.

The Bush family has been spending the week in Boca Grande for the past six years - but the incumbent presidential member of the family hasn't made the trip since December of 2000, just days before his inauguration. His father visited the island in 1992 following his defeat to Bill Clinton.

Pardon me if I don't really give a shit. But I just found out tonight that my husband may be losing his job early next year, which has put its own unique damper on the holiday spirit. But hey, the economy IS looking up.
