Anybody see Jackie Spinner of the Washington Post on C-SPAN this AM?
I was really impressed with her. One of the first things she said was that many Iraqis would prefer to have Saddam back than the present chaos and danger. She also said that she thought the media should show more of the violence of war, rather than less. She had been in Fallujah and she had an identical sister who taught at some university in the states. She seemed to me to be an honest reporter...Anybody else see her?

1. I did...
I woke up to her comment about Iraqis would rather have Saddam back than the chaos they have now.

I was very impressed with the rest of the interview, and she handled the freeper callers very well.

I think even Brian liked her. :)

3. I saw her.
I watch it every morning for about 45 minutes in total while getting dressed and eating breakfast.

It was pretty good... she seemed like a real reporter.

Too bad my colleagues only watch Regis and Kelly or reality shows. I have no one to talk to at the nonexistent water cooler.

4. I saw her take a call from a guy who asked, "Why not electronic voting
in Iraq?" He also asked another question which I don't recall at the moment, but that question sort of indicated that he disapproved of our adventure in Iraq.

Ms. Spinner kind of missed the point when she answered his question: she said, "To have electronic voting, they'd have to have electricity, and they don't really have much of that." I think the point of his question was, if electronic voting is good enough for US (the "democracy mothership"), if electronic voting is so WONDERFUL, why weren't we putting it out there for our pets the Iraqis to use? (Knowing that the answer is: electronic voting SUX and it is not conducive to the preservation of democracy.)

She kind of missed the point... and yet, she very simply and eloquently made another, even better, point: no electricity. As in, the Iraqis don't even have that simple, basic thing--electicity. As in, how can we really say there has been so much "progress" in Iraq?
