Has Bush brought about the end of America
Me? I think he has started the ball rolling. He has instituted the most worldwide spread of America hatred that I can remamber, The rest of the world can only be waiting for a weak point to bring this administration down.

Our economy is going to India and other countries... What is left?

1. we'll end up like a medieval society
A king, a few rich folks up at the top that control everything, some folks in the military and the rest of us peasants & serfs.

2. His Mistakes May Have Saved America
We had gotten so complacent about our freedoms.

Now the giant is waking up. Its good to hear that discourse again. Its good to hear the argument.

I think people are just beginning to see just how close we may have come to becoming a fascist state. It really doesn't take much.

Yesterday in Congress was the first really hopeful signs I have seen in a long, long time.

21. Snakes are amazing creatures.
I have never been afraid of them. I just leave them alone - and give them space.

I actually have a turtle that I have had for over 35 years. Its a mud turtle named Summer.

23. They aren't very big. And just kind of solid green.
But they can live up to 50 years or more.

I'm afraid he is starting to look old but he has to be at least 40 year's old by now.

8. Disagree. America is already fascist.
In fact, it's really a one party state: the Business Party, pretending not to be.

People and laws don't really count for much these days.

If we, the people, are to take back our country it will have to be by a huge
majority and a lot of activism.

I don't see that happening... not that it won't, but I don't see many people proclaiming
their liberalism loudly and proudly and really standing up for what they believe.

Even though I just lost my job to the corporate elite.

I simply will not let them take away my hope.

That started before Bush.

"The rest of the world can only be waiting for a weak point to bring this administration down."

Who do you mean by "the rest"? The people of the world, or governments?

4. I think Bush2 is just taking his father's
general tactics in the CIA to their logical conclusion, spying, torture, throwing poor people to the wolves. And Cheney is lapping up all the money he can, while he can. What a pair.

I feel Cheney will be indicted along with Rove, and this insanity will take a big hit. Or that is my great desire.

6. I truly am worried about the National Debt. I don't see any end..
..to this insane spending. (Remember when Repubs were screaming about the
"Tax and Spend Democrats"?)
I firmly believe also that this housing slump will continue to escalate and fall like a screen door in a submarine.
You can't ruin the economy, keep wages the same, don't raise the minimum wage and pile up unsurmountable debt without sometime in the future NOT having the entire "house of Cards" collapse.

9. It's the end of the world as we know it
That's great, it starts with an earthquake, birds and snakes, an aeroplane -
Dick Cheney is not afraid. Eye of a hurricane, listen to yourself churn -
Bush serves the NeoCon needs, don't misserve your own needs. Feed it up a knock,
speed, grunt no, strength no. Ladder structure clatter with fear of height,
down height. Bush's hair on fire, represent the seven games in a government for
hire and a combat site. Left her, wasn't coming in a hurry with the furies
breathing down your neck. Team by team reporters baffled, trump, tethered
crop. Look at that low plane! Fine then. Uh oh, overflow, population,
common group, but it'll do. Save yourself, serve yourself. Bush serves the
NeoCon needs, listen to your heart bleed. Tell me with the rapture and the
reverent in the right - right. You vitriolic, patriotic, slam, fight, bright
light, feeling pretty psyched.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

Six o'clock - TV hour. Don't get caught in foreign tower. Slash and burn,
return, listen to yourself churn. Lock him in uniform and book burning,
blood letting. Every motive escalate. Automotive incinerate. Light a candle,
light a motive. Step down, step down. Watch a heel crush, crush. Uh oh,
this means no fear - cavalier. Renegade and steer clear! A tournament,
a tournament, a tournament of lies. Offer me solutions, offer me alternatives
and I decline.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine.

The other night I tripped a nice continental drift divide. Mount St. Edelite.
Leonard Bernstein. Leonid Breshnev, Lenny Bruce and Lester Bangs.
Birthday party, cheesecake, jelly bean, boom! You symbiotic, patriotic,
slam, but neck, right? Right.

It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it.
It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine...fine...

(It's time I had some time alone)

My Apologies to REM

14. This is not the country I grew up in.
It is not the country our founding fathers hoped to build. It is not the country my parents told me about. It is not the country we studied in school.

Sadly it fell apart on our watch, therefore it is our responsibility to put it back together...for our children...and their children.

17. I was thinking that yesterday...
I just turned 37 and went through the cold war growing up, complete with the nuke alarms.

Remembering what I thought about Russia at the time:
Torturing people and their own citizens
Listening to all of their communication
Propoganda
Arresting people for minor infringements and throwing them in jail.

--We are what we feared. :( THIS IS NOT MY AMERICA.

15. I feel it, too.
I can't completely put it into words.

He divides us internally so he can defeat the other party in an election. That makes the entire country weaker and easier to conquer.
He makes our economy weaker and the economies of other countries stronger by pushing outsourcing and by borrowing from some of those same countries.
He repeats 9/11 and terror too often like it is a mantra for his supporters.
He took the spotlight off of Osama and put it onto Saddam for who knows what reason, I'm still not sure why we started bombing Iraq.
He violates the constitution and declares it is his prerogative to do so.
He stretches our military to it's limits by declaring a couple of wars and not instituting a draft. Then he cuts the veterans' benefits.
He cuts programs for the poor to allow for tax breaks for his wealthy friends.
He insults friendly nations because they don't agree on at least one of the wars.
He tells the surviving victims of the hurricanes that they will be taken care of and then ignores them.

It feels sort of like when someone is getting ready to sell or close a business and they are milking all the profits out of it while they still can.

These are some of the symptoms of how I feel he has made us weaker, but there is something else, I just can't seem to put into words.

Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 12:04 PM by CJCRANE
i.e. taking a company apart, stripping it's assets, it might be "wrecking" (or something like that, can't quite remember).

It's over, kaput.

When you have a major news network (and the rest following blindly) that is nothing but a vehicle for one party, and a huge population of willing victims, it is over.

would have been a strange place to a anyone who wasn't a white male property owner.

universal extension of franchise (a fundamental freedom we all take for granted) i don't think existed during jefferson's time.

maybe it did.

oh, and there's that slavery thing too.

27. america never "was"
for a great many people.

shades of fascism have been there all along. and if we look at fascism as corporate control of government, we can go back to Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad (1886).

in other words, when you have corporate personhood as protected by the 14th amendment going back as far as 1886, when you consider when he was getting started, hitler had many supporters in the u.s., when you consider that eugenics has been a secret hard on for the elite since the beginning of the 20th century, and when you consider that black people are still not considered human beings by a great many racist americans (bear in mind that in some backwater southern towns, up until the late 60s separate water fountains were still enforced - i've even been told that the city hall in beaumont, texas had "whites" and "colored" signage until the mid-70s).

america, at best, has been a valiant effort. i wouldn't go so far to call america a fiction, but it is damn close to that.

the greatest thing about america is that the ideas of the founders came from primarily french enlightenment thinkers.
