5. They have no evidence
that indicates things are getting better. none. zero. And yet Bush, Condi et.al repeat this every day, and the corporate media smiles and nods.

Only 750 Iraqi troops can function on their own. We need to at least wake up our democratic leadership to these facts. It's not getting better. ever. Why can't they come together and speak the truth, create a plan for getting out ASAP that they can all agree with. They keep pretending that by some miracle, we are going to win in Iraq. Everyday more troops die and halliburton makes more money. Apparently Halliburton is making progress. The longer we stay the happier Cheney is.

17. 14 Enduring Bases vs. "As Iraqis standup, we standdown"
They wanted the oil; they never planned on leaving. Murtha is learning and so is the rest of Congress. One gray cell at a time I guess.

8. This graph is dishonest
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 02:18 PM by Hamlette
my first thought when I saw this is "why did they pick October? Why not the whole year?

Because it makes a good graph for our side.

Nov 2003 100 deaths
Nov 2004 141
Nov 2005 86

They could make that graph and show things getting better.

You push this around and you will/should get chewed up.

9. Where did you find your numbers?
October does look like a bad month, but there is no doubt that the attacks and deaths have been growing progressively worse. The numbers are hard to find, but here are some...

From Dec 30,2004-By key measures of the level of insurgent violence against American forces in Iraq - numbers of dead, wounded and insurgent attacks - the situation has grown worse since summer.

While those numbers don't tell the full story of the conflict in Iraq, they suggest insurgents are growing more proficient, even as the size of the U.S. force increases and U.S. commanders succeed in soliciting more help from ordinary Iraqis.

For example:

* The U.S. military suffered at least 348 deaths in Iraq over the final four months of the year, more than in any other similar period since the invasion in March 2003.
* The number of wounded surpassed 10,000, with more than a quarter injured in the last four months as direct combat, roadside bombs and suicide attacks escalated. When President Bush declared May 1, 2003, that major combat operations were over, the number wounded stood at just 542.
* The number of attacks on U.S. and allied troops grew from an estimated 1,400 attacks in September to 1,600 in October and 1,950 in November. A year earlier, the attacks numbered 649 in September, 896 in October and 864 in November.

Nov 3-2005-With 93 U.S. troops killed, October saw the highest number of American deaths in Iraq in a month since January, when 107 died.

Pentagon officials said that in October there were about 100 attacks a day in Iraq compared with 85 to 90 attacks a day in September -- and about half of all attacks involve homemade bombs.

If the Bush Administration had ANY facts supporting their assertions we are making progress, I am sure they would be all over ABCNNBCBS

13. I got my numbers here. . .
I check it almost every day. http://icasualties.org/oif/

There have been about 875 killed this year, 805 in 2004 amd 675 in 2003 (which was not a full year.)

I don't mean to argue that things are getting better, I just think using one month from each year and saying it is representative is misleading to the point of dishonesty.

11. The Race to the Bottom in every respect. R's need to impeach
If the R's can't lead or follow, then they must get out of the way. They're leading us to the bottom in every category I can think of. And we've got three more years of this ...

If the Iranian intell ,with spy Chalabi, hoodwinked these neocon ninnies --as DIA's Patrick Lang is well aware-- then impeachment hearings should be set in motion NOW. If the R's won't do it then a Democratic Congress in '06 is the way.

15. Impeach and Imprison now!
I agree. I think the Dems need to step up though whether or not they have the numbers. We do not need to assume everyone votes along partisan lines. There is no law that states this. It is the constitutional duty of every member of congress to vote to impeach. Pushing for this will help us know who is American and who is a traitor. And it would be nice to know before the 2006 election.

16. Yes, all on record. The NSA's files on Congressmen/women will be helpful
They'll want to know what under what law Bush was operating on in order to dig dirt on them with the NSA et al's help.

Bush is acting like the old J. Edgar Hoover
