Agents' visit chills UMass Dartmouth senior
NEW BEDFORD -- A senior at UMass Dartmouth was visited by federal agents two months ago, after he requested a copy of Mao Tse-Tung's tome on Communism called "The Little Red Book."
Two history professors at UMass Dartmouth, Brian Glyn Williams and Robert Pontbriand, said the student told them he requested the book through the UMass Dartmouth library's interlibrary loan program.
The student, who was completing a research paper on Communism for Professor Pontbriand's class on fascism and totalitarianism, filled out a form for the request, leaving his name, address, phone number and Social Security number. He was later visited at his parents' home in New Bedford by two agents of the Department of Homeland Security, the professors said.

Dr. Williams said in his research, he regularly contacts people in Afghanistan, Chechnya and other Muslim hot spots, and suspects that some of his calls are monitored.
"My instinct is that there is a lot more monitoring than we think," he said.
Dr. Williams said he had been planning to offer a course on terrorism next semester, but is reconsidering, because it might put his students at risk.

Amazing isn't it? A professor that WON'T teach a class just so he can keep his students off some list of watched people for the rest of their lives. This really makes me angry. It needs to stop!

1. So THAT explains it!
"He was later visited at his parents' home in New Bedford by two agents of the Department of Homeland Security ..."

And we wondered where all of that Homeland Security money went! Thank god it's being spent wisely ...

4. Homeland Security's war on Intellectuals is alive and well
and we are footing the bill.

The article says they showed up at his home WITH the book, but they didn't leave it. Wonder just how quickly it was burned ... or was it put back into the system so some other poor unsuspecting student could request it and get a vist too? Now, that would be job security already, wouldn't it?

5. And next they'll be confiscating our ...
... copies of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights -- don't want the populace to start getting any uppity ideas about freedom and democracy.

3. that is SO stupid!
They used to hand those out on the street during the Vietnam war era. I bet a lot of people still have copies of the "Little Red Book".

Disgusting, totally!

9. Is it mindless that they want or ONE-MINDED that they are after?
No books to read, Family-block tv programing, Faux News ... they want us to think ... as long as we think what THEY want us to.

7. Well, of course. Under Mao, China underwent the Red Revolution. The
first people who were taken down were the intellectuals, the college professors, teachers, and students.

They don't want the intended victims realizing to soon that they are following Mao's methods for dumbing down everyone in this country.

10. Two FBI agents investigate reading 'The LIttle Red Book?'
The FBI did not have time to investigate the 9/11 bombers taking flight school, but now can investigate something so worthless as this? Louis Freeh would be proud.
