Is there really a "War On Terrorism" or was 9/11 an isolated incident?

These dark times we live in are reminiscent of an Orwellian world where reality is not always as it seems. The narrative of our times almost jumps off the pages of George Orwell's novel 1984, In which a totalitarian government wages a never-ending war against Eur-Asia. The people are willful participants, working in harmony against their "enemy". Books and newspapers have been outlawed("I don't read the newspaper."-George W. Bush), and the Government spreads propaganda to the people through television. Political Dissenters are refereed to as "thought criminals"("Those who speak out against the war in Iraq are un-American and give support to our enemy"-O'reily, Lieberman,etc.)

Does life mimic fiction? Is reality what it seems?

Those are questions we should all ask ourselves.

For me, reality is the world around me. It is going to work knowing that I will barely manage to get buy. It is going to the gas pump and wondering if the price went up. The television on the other hand, wants to present me with a different reality. One in which terrorist attacks are inevitable. One where Avian-Flu is just on the Horizon. Be afraid they tell me, be very afraid. Are they telling the truth?

Should I just take their word for it?

Either there are terrorists lurking under the floorboards everywhere or...

And really that's all they need. They don't really need to produce any terrorist-related disaster so long as everyone believes they're there........

If there's nothing to fear, they will manufacture it. the War on Terra got them another 50 years of building stuff to blow it up. Blow it up and rebuild it and repeat for 50 years.

Especially the last paragraph. It might be interesting to expand on the discrepancies between every day life and the tv-reality.

terrorists tried to blow up the world trade center in the 90s. there have been terrorist attacks all over the world for as long as i can remember.

will we be attacked again? i don't know. what i do know is that i go about my life day by day and try to live my life to the fullest. do i live in fear? no.

i still can not understand what i'm supposed to do when they raise the "terror alert". do i look at my neighbors a little more closely? do i stay home and not go to the mall?

and no, i do not take their word for it.

Terrorists made their their first attempt at scoring anti-US points with WTC 1. As it didn't achieve the desired result (the towers toppling over), they VOWED TO TRY IT AGAIN, planned for the better part of the nineties, then returned AS PROMISED to finish the job...rather spectacularly. I believe that's all they had planned AS AN ORGANIZATION (not counting individuals like the "The Shoe Bomber", et al, who act alone...)

The rest, as they say, is history. This current "War on Terrorism" is ENTIRELY of Bush's making, with SOLID help from Tony Blair (who actually could've changed everything if he wasn't such a boot-licking poodle); I firmly believe no other attacks were imminent on American soil. (To reiterate, I'm not talking about those who act alone).

If Bush did one thing "right", it's that he took "his" war global.

On September 11, 2001, we were attacked by the U.S. intelligence community. The truth is already known about Bin Laden. Hopefully Able Danger, among other will-be issues, will help us to understand that ALL of the September 11 terrorists -- or whatever you want to call them -- were similarly manipulated by Americans.
