Has anyone been to Panama?
I don't think a travel forum was ever created, so thought I'd ask this here.
Read an article that claimed Panama is a great place for Americans to
retire. You can buy land, there's good healthcare, it's warm, nice
beaches, etc.
I tried to find a good forum to ask questions but there don't
seem to be any.
Does anyone have any knowledge of Panama, and what did/do
you think about the place?
Thanks for any insight.

1. I have been to Balboa.
It was a work related visit, though, so not much site seeing took place. There was a good casino there & the Canal is well worth seeing.

2. I have some friends that live in Panama. They love it. They do speak
Spanish, but I've heard there are American areas there are great.

4. Can you share what area they live in?
I'm trying to research a trip for next year and looking for a starting point. I've heard some areas are not recommended, like Colon, due to alot of crime.

3. Costa Rica is also a good place to retire
Very cheap.......its just North of Panama. We were there two weeks in Sept and it was wonderful. A lot of people are buying land in Nicaragua as land prices in Panama and Costa Rica are getting steep. Just my 2 cents.

5. There used to be a big difference
between the "canal zone" and the rest of Panama.
Don't know what it's like now.
