James Carville is tearing Laura Ingraham up on Crossfire
Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 03:50 PM by Loyal
They're in commericial now, and Rapidfire is up next. James asked Laura to explain to his audience why she thinks she is more PATRTIOTIC - and that conservatives are more patriotic - than James. She couldn't do it and kept dodging the question and James Carville kept hounding her. :) It's so good to see someone rip into that bitch for once. She's almost as bad as Ann Coulter, it's a close race, though.

2. She's a Coulter wannabe - even weaker...
I've never heard her make a policy argument - only make fun of someones looks or voice. That's IT. and read the latest Rove talking points memo.

Most Irish gals are dark-haired (my sisters). I turned out strawberry-blond and it's actually more dirty blond now.

I dont think I could pass for Irish though honestly, like I think my hair is dark enough heh, but my eyes just cry out German which I am a quarter too or Scandavian which I am not, and not to mention I got a fairly good complexion I thought I heard that the Irish were more pale.

Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 03:56 PM by Clete
I think only their hairdressers know for sure if they are really blond or not, but I doubt it. I think in Repuke circles, Repuke women have to aspire to be the trophy wives of rich Repuke men and maybe blond is more desirable. Makes me wonder why Laura Bush didn't, but didn't she start out as a Democrat like Maria Shriver?

4. Laura Ingram sucks of course...
Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 03:54 PM by Ficus
No one is quite as bad as Coulter - but Laura Ingram is really bad. I heard her going off about how Democrats hate the middle class and everything about them, their SUVs and how they go to church on sunday and their neighborhoods and on and on. It wasn't as outright abrasive as Coulter, but it's good to see James C put someone like her in their place. Far too often liberal commentators let them do their thing without even saying, hey wait a minute, and just explain that point...

16. Colmes accepts the FORMAT
If you read Al Franken's new book, you will see a chapter where he takes Colmes aside and gives him some pointers and tips, talking points, and encourages him to show some fire and guts. Colmes kept telling Franken, "But that is not our format." "That doesn't fit our format." "Our format is something else."

So you see, Colmes is fully aware that he is a namby-pamby foil on the show. THAT IS THE OFFICIAL FORMAT of the show. And Colmes is ok with it. He's down with it. They would never put Carville in there on that show because he would not accept the format.

12. She's toned herself down a bit
I was surprised to hear her be less than shrill. When I go around the dials on the radio and hear her, I can't even settle in for a few minutes of listening. But during this rapid-fire segment, she seemed to keep a sober attitude.

She just doesn't seem to exude the smug confidence she did months ago. Iraq is a wake up call for the R's - at the price of our troops.

19. exactly, eleny
she admitted TWICE that if the only issue for the fascist party to run on is Iraq, that they're in deep trouble.

she also mentioned the infighting between the state department and the DOD, something a good nazi propagandist NEVER, EVER does.

she was definitely put on the defensive by Carville's going after her on the patriot issue. the Dems REALLY should go after them on that crap.

it was so nice to see that nasty, homophobic lunatic at a loss for words, and have the sneer wiped off her face, as she tried to come up with a response to Carville.

and wasn't it Ingraham who Brock recounted as going mental over some guy, and threatening him with a gun?

I read his book, and IIRC, it was she.

will look it up

33. I haven't read anything about Ingraham...
Sounds like it was a serious situation if it's true.

Another thing I liked so much about today's program, was that last question Carlson kept asking the other guest. Something about - wouldn't the Dems want to remove * since he's so awful? - something like that. And the guy kept answering that we'll just wait until the next election. Carlson couldn't seem to let go of it. And the guy kept rebuffing him. The R's didn't have a good Crossfire today.

27. remember this, from Brock's book?
In David Brock's book "Blinded by the Right", Brock reveals that Laura Ingraham once confided to him that "she didn't believe much of what she was saying on the airwaves".

also, this, from Rittenhouse review, as part of a very interesting section on the Al Gore and the Alpha Girls:

Ingraham once shoved a running garden hose through the mail slot of the Georgetown home of a lover who spurned her unwanted attention, pulled a gun on yet another boyfriend who grew tired of her demented obsessions......

30. Please tell me there will be a transcript.
I know Carville can turn Laura Ingraham into gumbo before she has time to collect her thoughts, but I'd like to have the actual words.

Ingraham is one of the right-wing pundits who illustrates how much they rely on PROJECTION in their modus operandi. She was promoting her new book in the Hill newspaper recently, and opined that Bill Moyers and Jimmy Carter have a "heartfelt disdain" for average Americans and their values. She didn't explain why someone who has made a "career" scorning other people should be qualified to discern the deepest feelings of the guy who made the documentary on "Amazing Grace" and a Sunday school teacher/grandpa, but there you are -- projection.
