I just lost my last bit of respect for John McCain ...

I tell ya what, John McCain really had me in the 2000 election cycle. Since then my respect has gradually waned.

Today, was the last straw. Today John McCain defended George W Bush's direct violation of the fourth amendment. The man is a skulking husk of what he once was. He has curled on GW Bush's thumb for the sake of ensuring his access to the 2008 nomination. The lone holdout is being unable to whore himself out over the torture issue.

4. His stands are all over the map......
and have never made sense to me.

This latest seems like a pattern: whenever he goes against Bush (like he did on torture) he has to then
kiss his ass for awhile. Pathetic.

15. McCain is UNSTABLE?
My god, if a Democrat was bouncing all over the issues like McCain is he'd be called UNSTABLE! He'd be called a LUNATIC, a MADMAN, someone who can't control himself. Gosh, he might even SCREAM! :scared:

The thing is, I think McCain IS slightly unstable, perhaps from his POW experiences but sometimes it doesn't seem like he's playing with a full deck. Some of the decisions he's made are highly suspect.

7. what respect?
I admit McCain does some good things sometimes, or at least he tries to. But every time I see him interviewed he's always sucking up to Bush. I could never have respect for someone like that.

And you may be right, he's probably just doing it to get the '08 nomination but I'm not sure if that strategy will work for him.

8. How anyone can have any regard for John McCain is beyond
me. Keating Five, we're still paying for that one.

9. Panelists made a good point
People liked him because of what they thought he was. Now that he is toeing the line all the time he is no longer what they thought he was.

He didn't even sound knowledgeable about this spying issue and was saying ~It was wrong maybe but if it was the Democrats have a lot of explaining to do and it wasn't wrong unless it was.

Very, very few I have seen are defending bush, even the conservative panelists. They aren't spinning. He broke the law for no reason, he has authority already to start it without a subpoena as long as he takes it to the judge in 72 hours. The judges are secret and keep it secret. There is no excuse.
Unlike McCain most knew congress who did learn were told, not asked. They didn't authorize it, many objected and they couldn't speak to anyone about it, it was classified.

Also that revealing it didn't damage anything. Bad guys knew they could be monitored already. bush just did it illegally.

The Democrats are all speaking strongly but I was surprised that panelists were too. Lindsey Graham, JAG officer in him showing, spoke strongly against it. Much better on this and on torture issue then McCain.

11. He was tip toeing all around the spying scandal
I expected more concern if not outrage. Hard to figure this guy out. He must want the presidency really, really bad.

17. They must have promised him
that the rigged voting machines will be churning out McCain votes everywhere in 2008. It's the only way they can win.

13. John McCain = Judas Goat
After what Bush's own minions did his family, he stands up and shills for the guy. Just a Judas Goat leading the sheeple to the slaughterhouse.
