The Republican model -- just PRETEND you're doing something good for the masses:

Perdue halves natural gas tax

By JAMES SALZER, MARGARET NEWKIRK
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 12/20/05

Homeowners will get a small break on their heating bills this winter.

Gov. Sonny Perdue signed an order Monday halving a 4 percent state sales tax on residential natural gas for January-through-April bills. If approved by the Legislature, Perdue's cut would reduce a $100 natural gas bill by $2 and a $200 bill by $4.

That $2 won't even buy me a gallon of gas.

*sigh*

1. Compassionate conservatism at it's finest...
My gas bill last month was almost $300...I'm seriously considering wintering at our cabin where we have wood stoves and kerosene lighting!

2. I've got a woodstove
but I've had to leave it cold during several really bitter days because of thermal inversions, something that usually doesn't happen here unless it's warm outside.

Sigh, double sigh. At least I have an electric blanket to roll up in while I'm at the computer.

3. I went out shopping for one today (electric blanket)
Value City had a queen sized one for $50 -- problem is, it's purple.

If I don't find one in the color I like at a comparable price, I'm going to go with the purple.

7. Be royal!
You are Catwoman, after all.

Seriously, it makes a huge difference in tolerating a cold room. The only problem is not being able to move around much in it, since it's tethered to a cord.

4. This is absolutely insulting. Hugo Chavez did far better in Massachusetts
I don't really know what to say. My God, this is what our leaders are doing, and it's gotten so bad we're getting help from people like Chavez with our fuel problems.

5. More cats!
What you need is a herd of warm cats. I do.
I often wondered how they lived in castles. How the hell do you keep a castle warm? You don't. You get cozy.
/sorry

6. We live in the sunny South. Just think warm thoughts.
We're wearing more clothes and closing off rooms.

Our cats are not happy.
