Treasury Secretary Goes Christmas Shopping
WASHINGTON -- Even members of President Bush's Cabinet can get caught having to do their Christmas shopping at the last minute.

But if you are Treasury Secretary John Snow, you can combine your gift-buying with some timely comments on how well the economy is doing.
....
"I am feeling confident so I am going to make some purchases," Snow told the group of reporters, photographers and television camera crews invited along for the trip.
....
The total for Snow's one-hour shopping excursion came to $476.06, including $341.26 spent at Border's Books and $134.80 at Starbucks, where Snow purchased 12 $10 gift cards for his Secret Service agents.

Happy days are here again. Mega multi-millionaires can afford to give out $10 coffee coupons.

It's a good thing nothing else was going on today that might have monopolized those reporters' time.

4. Perhaps there is a limit on what a federal employee can accept
in terms of a gift.

$10 is a crappy amount.

5. Dude, his agents follow him around and are prepared
to save his life and that's all he can cough up? Grinch. If it were me and I had the dough he does, I'd pop at least $20-$30 each.

6. $476 Really Isn't That Much...
I know, I know. But have you checked out prices in stores these days? $341 is maybe 10 nice hard-cover books. I would think that the man has at least that many close friends who deserve such a gift. And $10 worth of Starbucks will go a lot further way than a $10 card at Best Buys.

I'm wondering if this report was "paid for"
