Shut the **** up Guiliani!
"I’m praying for Rush and we all support him and we just can’t wait for him to get back. We know he’s going to do great!"

This guy's such an idiot. Why oh why were Andrew Cuomo's merry men stupid enough to endorse him. I gues there are "liebruls"...They're a party in New York State.

1. Guiliani endorsed Cuomo in '94
lot of good that did Mario. :eyes: I'm just now beginning to think Pataki and D'Amato rigged that election somehow.

he was just returing the favor as a good liberal. He was right too.

Edited on Mon Oct-20-03 09:49 PM by Bleachers7
I am a little surprised by this from Guiliani, but what else is he going to say. Guiliani is very popular here in NY. He is a good no BS guy. I didn't like him until the middle of his first term. He did great positive things for the city. He could probably win whatever he wants in NY. Dems and Reps like him because he is moderate. He is pro-choice, lived with 2 gay men when he broke up with his wife, and doesn't take crap.

You got that from the URL I posted, where is the record problems Red was talking about.

"Drug policy should be an integral part of foreign policy. (Sep 1997)"

Translation: Lock people up for smoking pot or growing opium.

Umm, no. You cannot surmise that from that quote.

"No need to understand reasons for terrorism-just stop them."

I didn't say he should be president, but he was a great mayor.

while having an affair and flaunting that affair in his wife's face. Even took, or tried to take, the mistress to the Governors mansion while his family was STILL living there. I find the repuke hypocrisy with that guy...amazing. Look at what they did to Clinton and then turn around and ignore what Giuliani did to his wife.

He ruled the streets with an iron fist, but he never told cops to shoot people or go deep with plungers. That was the cops that did that.

31. A plan conveniently timed to come due AFTER he'd leave due to term limits.
Rudy used too many one-time accounting gimmicks to keep the books straight, options which wouldn't be open to his successor.

24. Here's one of MANY examples ...........

To shed a little light on Rudy............

After Amadou Diallo was shot 41 times by four of NYC'S finest.....Giuliani supported the cops COMPLETELY from the moment the murder of the African immigrant took place and thruout their trial .......want more ............When Diallo's family arrived in New York, Giuliani did not even bother to offer his condolences, publicly or in private, to Diallo's grieving family.............

2nd, The family was suing the city. It was partly a legal issue.

27. They accidentally shot Amadou through the sole of his shoe...
meaning he was prone and those rat bastards were still shooting at him! Why? Well because he must have looked so dangerous standing there in his own damn doorway after a hard day working multiple gigs to get his piece of the pie! Gee, I wonder what else made them look at him with enough suspicion and fear to accidentally fire 41 shots at an unarmed man?

Accident my ass!

33. Yeah, Diallo ACCIDENTALLY wasn't telepathic...
...so he couldn't read the minds of the bunch of suspicious-looking mooks who were eying him, so he wasn't instantly aware that they were his friendly neighborhood undercover patrolmen, who were jacked up enough that they interpreted any ordinary action as "going for a weapon", and unloaded their guns into him.

Bullshit.

26. Giuliani's a punk.
A narcisssistic, dictatorial punk.

As US Attorney, he fucked up more cases than he won cleanly. His office was riddled with leaks and problems. Self-promotion was always put ahead of actually preparing a case, and other prosecutors were constantly complaining that he was doing things to screw up their cases.

As mayor, he set records for the press, public, and even the City Council suing him for basic city information. Everything was a secret and none of your business. The City Council even had to sue him for the budget details.

Before 9/11, he closed off City Hall. After 9/11 it got worse. Even the Council had to get prior authorization to walk to the City Hall steps, which every other mayor used for publilc events. Koch was there on the steps at least once a week giving someone the keys to the city. Lotsa bands played on those steps. Even saw Dolly Parton give a free set there, and Koch was in love. Not Rudy. No fun in the city.

He was surrounded with yes-men and ass-kissers. The only sort of people he could deal with. Never, under any circumstances, disagree with him. His comments on the Great Ferret Controversy were, umm, instructive. And, no music but opera. Italian opera.

I was told by someone fairly well placed in one of the emergency services that one year he "suggested" to the city hospitals that anyone coming into the emergency rooms around New Year's Eve with knife, gunshot, etc. wounds, be kept alive until after midnight, so the murder rate for that year would be kept a little lower.

The streets were cleaner, and he did reorganize the city's emergency services, but one wonders if it was really worth it. At least he didn't get a chance to blow a half-billion on a new Yankee Stadium.

Rudy's a shit. A shit with a great PR machine and a press that was shit scared to cross him.

29. good examples
I thought this mention from the Nation's article "How the Other Half Still Lives" was telling:

"About 800,000 city residents are eligible for food stamps, but do not receive them. During Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's second term, barriers to access were intentionally created, causing a 42 percent drop in recipients."

What a guy. Makes no sense either, since food stamps means that Federal dollars are flowing into your city.

In regard to Delay, Bill Moyers said this:

"I understand what the politician meant who said of the Texas House of Representatives, 'If you think these guys are bad, you should see their constituents.' "

It's unfortunate that there are alot of people outside of NYC who know very little about Giuliani other than 9-11, when he became a big hero, the mayor of America and all that bullshit.......he's a racist and heartless bastard....and enemy of all minorities, among other things........and anyone who wants to question what I just said, I'll be more than happy to continue posting more tidbits of information about "The Fuhrer" as he was called long before the tragedy of 9-11 changed his public image forever...........

37. Fuhrer? That one's new to me...
...il Ducheani, sure.
...Adolf Guliani, all the time, especially from "Grandpa" Al Lewis.
...but "The Fuhrer"? Nope, hadn't heard it.

And it's true (and a shame) so many think of him in his "Hero Rudy" mode of 9/11. Hell, I don't like him and I'll give him props acting like a real leader when one was needed most. But that lasted about 3-4 days, until he floated the idea of extending his term due to the emergency: by then "old Rudy" was back. But those 3-4 days don't balance out the rest of his reign.
