Are Gonzo, Asscroft, and Miers involved in Spygate, too?
I just remembered this from the late Friday night article:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051217/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_nsa_25

The official said that since October 2001, the program has been renewed more than three dozen times. Each time, the White House counsel and the attorney general certified the lawfulness of the program, the official said. Bush then signed the authorization.

Gonzo was White House Counsel prior to Miers. And Asscroft, well, need I say more.

2. A bigger question would be
Was Alito EVER assigned FISA coverage? In other words, was he EVER in the rotation to be the judge to approve a FISA warrant?

I don't know the answer to that, but it might be really interesting to find out.

3. I suspect all his advisors told him all was well.
I'm still not sure if the Gov't lawyers are simply telling Shrub what he wants to hear, are personally convinced their advise is correct, or aare playing the role of a personal attorney who always supports his client's position and finds an argument to do so.

What ever their reasons were, I'm sure all of the people you mentioned knew all of what was going on.
