Dear Mr. Morin,

I am truly saddened by the fact that your readers are broaching the subject of impeachment as a possible question in the polls your paper conducts.

I, like you, believe that you and you alone should be the arbiter of all things serious and proper. Take, for example, the moral high ground of Bob Woodward, who if memory serves was once quite the man back in the days when the Post had, well, you know, testicles. Recently, however, Mr. Woodward seems to have encountered a serious case of what those who actually follow the news refer to as Judy Miller-itis. As you know, the symptoms of Miller-itis render one unable to discern journalistic integrity from boot-licking, and as we all now know Mr. Woodward has been seen wagging his brown tongue all over Washington as he tries to pretend he has even a shred of integrity left.

You, however, have seen fit to let Mr. Woodward not only continue to be published in the Post, but have decided that a robust "please tell us next time, OK Bob?" will suffice as penance. Such courage you show, Mr. Morin. I am in awe. By the way, could you tell us now how many stories the Post has buried at the request of Mr. Bush? We hate to have to do all the legwork ourselves, you know.

Please spare us your lectures on what constitutes news, Mr. Morin. Your paper has become a laughingstock, so worried about access that when asked to jump you scream "how high, Mr. President!" in the hopes that he will keep you in his good graces. As it seems he has made you the proverbial offer you can't refuse, you have chosen to lie not with the horse's head, but with the horse's ass.

The hilarity of your statement that "impeachment is not news" when you yourself do everything in your power to keep it out of the Post speaks volumes. By the way, I loved your sycophantic "Bush goes on the offensive" article today. While the rest of the world watches a drooling fool repeat the only things he knows to a room of hand picked journalists, you find him to be casual and crisp. That's funny - his behavior during that conference should have been described as "heavily medicated", or "displaying an inability to deviate from the rote answers he has been using since dinosaurs roamed the earth", but hey, what do I know? I've never even conducted a poll, for goodness sakes.

While I'd love to write more, I'm afraid I have to run, it seems as if your Circulation Dept. is on the other line. Care to guess what I'll tell them?

4. DB, please tell him you are sure he'll poll correctly when the ink is dry
on his book deal too. It's part of the culture of corruption that pollsters and journalists enable today. We understand, truly...

Great Letter!

5. Thanks
I can see "Professor Morin" teaching an Ethics In Journalism class in the near future - sponsored by The Heritage Foundation, of course.

With guest lecturer Brent Bozell.
