DU ALERT! Must watch Frontline!
I'm speechless.......

The title of the new Frontline program is:

Truth, War, and Consequences

Please kick! This is a must watch! This program chronicles the Bush/Pnac agenda of manipulating intelligence and outright lies to further the invasion of Iraq. It is also extremely heartbreaking and *graphic* in showing the horrible mistreatment of innocent Iraqi civilians, all with our tax dollars.

I would recommend taping this for future reference.

Here is frontline's web page for info on the program. Paste the title in the search field for info:

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/

For rebroadcast info go to:

http://www.pbs.org/

Gob bless DU, PBS and Frontline!!

3. I've only seen the first chapter.
Quite disturbing. Especially the part where the soldiers cruch a car whose owner was suspected of looting.

2 things bother me about that

1. The person in charge of that act was a buck sergeant. A freaking E-5. Not even an officer. This junior NCO took it upon himself to dispense justice.--this leads to point #2

2. No due process of law. Were we not supposed to be liberators? I'm not seeing it, no trial or anything. The soldiers said they were looting now they crush his car. Seems rather draconian to me. Then it turns out that the car was the only means of support for the suspect as he was a taxi driver. What's he going to do now? Way to win the hearts and minds there, asshole. Dispensing your "badass" justice.

Now I realize that the ambushes are putting a lot of our soldiers on edge, that is understandable. However, this punishment, which far surpasses the crime of stealing fucking 2x4s is beyond the pale.

11. Street Gang Behaviour
I felt the same way about it. And the comments from this JERK were as if he was a member of some low-life street gang. Not only that, imagine how the child who was present to this sick act, will alway's remember his so called liberators!
And towards the end of this expose there was the scene where the PBS camera man was recieving fire in his direction by the U.S. troops. Fortunately for him they missed, but the inncoent Iraqi wasn't so lucky. I will never forget how one of the G.I's asked other Iraqi's after they killed this civilian, if he was a terrorist. Their answer to him was, "that he was a peaceful man!" The soldier turns to another G.I. to repeat what the Iraqi told him, and then they both shrugg their shoulders and walk away as if this poor souls life meant nothing. Disturbing images to say the least.

12. I was an officer in the military, but there were quite a few non-coms...
...that I knew personally that had a lot more common sense than some of the idiots churned out by the military academies and college ROTC.

I will freely admit, however, that the E-5 in this story used incredibly bad judgement.

The similarities to the kinds of terrible things done in Vietnam are starting to grow. It's only a matter of time before we start hearing about "souvenirs" of the human flesh variety.

7. You're welcome!......
I actually missed the first 45 minutes of this broadcast, but the what I saw(45 minutes more) had me seething and also heartbroken. The reaction of the man who screaming after his friend had his head blown apart by a .50 cal machine gun bullet is still haunting me. I just about lost it when he started screaming "is this what you mean about freedom?" My words don't do justice to how I feel. The disconnect of most people to what is really going on is amazing. That is why I feel that this program is a must watch because the way that the facts and the truth are chronicled, is impossible to refute. I think that in time this program will be as important as the Magruder film or the Watergate tapes as a turning point in our country when people began to wake up and see that evil has no bounds and that nothing is sacred as far as profit is concerned. Please pass the word and share this with as many people as possible, including conservative family and SO's... Peace to all..
