Cheney Says President Has Spying Authority
By DEB RIECHMANN, Associated Press Writer
23 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Vice President Dick Cheney on Tuesday called for "strong and robust" presidential powers, saying executive authority was eroded during the Watergate and Vietnam eras. Some lawmakers objected that President Bush's decision to spy on Americans to foil terrorists showed he was flexing more muscle than the Constitution allows.

The revelations of Bush's four-year-old order approving domestic surveillance without court warrants has spurred a fiery debate over the balance of power between the White House, Congress and the judiciary.

"I believe in a strong, robust executive authority and I think that the world we live in demands it," Cheney said.

"I would argue that the actions that we've taken there are totally appropriate and consistent with the constitutional authority of the president. ... You know, it's not an accident that we haven't been hit in four years," the vice president said, speaking with reporters on Air Force Two en route from Pakistan to Oman

2. So there!
"I would argue that the actions that we've taken there are totally appropriate and consistent with the constitutional authority of the president..."

And I would argue that you, Mr. Cheney, are an ass-hole.

Now we've both spoken our piece -- except that I have FACTS to back up my statement, and Cheney DOES NOT!

3. This quote...
"You know, it's not an accident that we haven't been hit in four years,"

Yes Dick, and before your incompetent group of thieves stole power, we had not been hit for over fifty years before that.

That doesn't make Cheney any less of a prick though.

That is what this is essentially all about.

Its about control and domination.

9. You Know What I Think
Sometimes I wonder if the extremist Islamic fundamentalists actually exist. Apparently this scary government believes so, but I think that Bush (excuse me i meant Karl) has got the Prince of Saudi Arabia in such a tight grip that he can just tell the prince to hold riots of flag burning's so that the president can keep his tight grip of terror.

Also, you know who else believed in an unchecked Executive, Caesar, after he shutdown the senate and controlled the courts.

23. I'm wondering whether this is all a fix to have Cheney as President ...
... before the 2008 elections. Why else would he work so damn hard toward stronger powers for the President?

13. Cheney's Energy Task Force, on the other hand, must be secret.
It's an interesting view Dickus Elephantiasis has regarding privacy. The Executive Branch has it, but the American people do not. Hitler would be proud of his pupil.

15. Haven't been hit? There have been ZERO (0, nil) indictments...
unless you count gathering muslims and shipping them to Eastern Europe to be tortured a victory. And you know if they caught someone actually plotting on US soil they would drag him/her out and parade them in front of the media saying, "see, lack of freedom is good for everyone." Hell, they'de probably set up a "Barney-cam" so we could watch the terrorist in a cell like he/she was a baby panda.

I believe that the only active terrorists in American prisons were put there while Clinton was President...hmmmmm.

Dick by any other name would not fit him.

16. WRONG..
Dick Cheney is lying to us (is anyone surprised) so don't buy it. Read the Constitution.

The President has no powers not enumerated in the Constitution, Article II.

All unenumerated powers are reserved to the states or the people. (Amendments 9 and 10 of the Bill of Rights)

If it ain't in Article II, he can't do it. Nothing in Article II says he can usurp the the 4th Amendment requirement for a warrant for example.

So when you hear this bunch of lies being passed off for an actual defense fight back with their own small gov't states rights words - hoist them on their own petards!

that he was never involved in bribing foreign government agents for contracts, and the sky is purple and Iraq is a clear and imminent NUCLEAR FRIGGING threat. He's neat.

Go fuck yerself, Dick. You are such a rehash from the past. You are just reiterating what all those conquerers, mad kings and emperors, imperialists, fascists and other failed totalitarians from the past used as their excuse for their all-consuming addiction to power.

Believe it all you want - but since your "belief" is 180 degrees opposite to the beliefs of our forebears and founders - who formed our government and wrote our Constitution - get the hell out, you fucking traitor.
