Is Intelligent Design fundamentally racist?
I hadn't ever heard this before and it does come from a group of middle schoolers. Today in my advisory, a couple of my 8th graders, who happen to be Black, brought this up when we were talking about ID. Basically, their comment was that the reason some White people are so concerned about evolution is that they don't like the idea of evolving from apes which everyone knows come from Africa.

Where did they get this from? Is this common thinking? Is ID fundamentally racist and if it is, why not attack it on that basis?

1. That's one of the underlying theories
that evolved out of the whole Adam and Eve thing, I think.

See how nicely these myths can be twisted to fit particular agendae?

You can't attack it on that basis because no one - except, of course, the KKK - will dare to articulate it publicly.

3. You may be able to undermine it, tho, by asking the question...
That's an old lawyerin' trick, isn't it, Leftie?

:hi: Darlin'...

5. Not necessarily
You open that can of worms, and you have nothing - absolutely nothing to back you up - and you're left there, standing on your own dick.

Not where anyone really wants to be.

2. Makes sense - I think that's why they reject evolution
Evlolution says we all had a common ancestor. And where was that common ancestor from?

The Rift Valley - in Africa.

4. Fundamentally its stupid
Those who support it are afraid of having their 'faith' shaken.

They are the same people who imprisoned Gallelio

7. But Darwin was not egalitarian.
I've read his works, he certainly seemed to believe whites were more advanced than others. A lot of bad things have been justified on the grounds of evolution.
