Medical examiner says cold killed mother, son

CHICAGO The Cook County medical examiner's office says exposure to the cold did contribute to the deaths of a 92-year-old woman and her 63-year-old son.

Mary Calcagno and Charles Gaudin were found dead in their home Monday on Chicago's North Side.

Officials say another son arrived to find Calcagno wrapped in a blanket on the first floor of her frigid home. Gaudin was found in his upstairs apartment -- also wrapped in a blanket.

I wonder if anyone will keep count of all the people who have and will die this winter from the preventable cause of hypothermia. I know in my own family that no one could afford the rise in heating cost. This is what decades of republicanism lead to. They were telling us for decades that we were crazy and no one would be
"dying in the streets". But that exactly what has been happening.
