The survivors and the troops should not be held hostage -- the greed of the corporations and the politicians should not come into play.

IF the 42 count is correct, it's filibustered.

else has changed. My count now has it at 59 to 43 which is, of course, messed up. Don't know who to move from one column to the next. Anyone got a better count?

29. Looks like a lot of arm twisting going on. Half the repugs will
spend the holidays with their arms in a cast.

Seems like some of the people are going back and changing their votes so I have lost count. I did have 43 nays but now I just don't know.

36. GOP Leadership can do anything they want on this.
A couple years ago, the House kept the Medicare "reform" bill vote open for over 2 hours, to give DeLay and Hastert enough time to twist enough arms to get the win.

If they have no regard for statutes and laws, what kind of respect do you think they have for something piddling like parliamentary procedure?

otherwise, those who vote not to close debate can simply allow the matter to be dropped for now.

51. Frist has entered a motion for reconsideration. Roll call. Guess
he is now using intimidation. Right now Frist and his flunkies are going to every single repug that voted no and telling them that they will not get any money from the RNC for re-election, that every dirty trick in the book will be used against them, and they are dead to the party so get back in line or we will steamroll right over your ass. This now has the question that millions of people are asking - "Are there any honest and just politicians left in the Republican Party.

Will anyone really change their vote in this process?

55. DeWine could change. He's up for reelection in 06
and could crumble.

That said, they only get to 59 if all three Rs (who voted "No") flip.

Could there be Dems out there considering a switch?
