Ok, I missed the budget reconciliation vote and understand that
it was a tie broken by Sneer. Sigh. The elderly, children, disabled, and poor are being drowned in a bathtub. Right? The military, which will do fine eventually because the war will be funded, is on hold for a while till Stevens takes out his ANWR stuff, Right? Am I up to speed now?

1. Dems made minor changes.
I hope it's a good sign that every single Dem and Independent voted against it,
along with five Republicans.

Cheney cast the tie breaking vote, so the bill passed 51-50.

Well.. if Dems make gains in 06, can we undo some of the damage being done
to the young, the poor, the disabled, and the elderly?

I've got my fingers, toes, eyes, arms, and legs crossed....

2. That's the way it looks
Here's a link to the roll call votes http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/legislative/a_three_sections_with_teasers/votes.htm

Vote 363 is for the social program budget cuts, and you will see that Darth Cheney cast the tie breaking vote.

Vote 364 is the one where we rejected the defense appropriations/ANWR drilling bill. The results on that one have just now been made available. Think I'll post in a separate thread.

3. "Framing" Cheney for his tie-breaker
Let's start calling this the CHENEY cuts to medicare, food stamps and child-support collection since he's the one who swooped in and cast the deciding vote.

No reason just to call them "cuts" without putting the final blame where it belongs.

4. Sneaky Steven's ANWR is in a different bill
the defense appropriations bill, which was just blocked by a cloture vote.

haha.

I bet he's having an enema right now.
