I miss Morning Sedition
I miss the funny in the morning. Now we have on a local guy who is good but he is serious, and I find I am missing the Marc/Mark very badly.

7. I miss Stompers
Two reasons:

1. Stompers cannot be left alone.
2. I have a weakness for little fuzzy dogs.

4. Riley's good on policy, but he's kind of sane compared to Maron.
I thought Rachel Maddow was going to be on - ?

5. Me too
They were the best thing to happen to syndicated morning commute shows in a long, long time.

8. There are differences in markets
and I think some are taking time off. I really don't like the choices my local market has made- I will continue to get Stephanie Miller instead of Rachel Maddow and I think Rachel is the best one on Air America. I don't think I realized how much I would miss Morning Sedition...

Do you think Sammy the Stem Cell is still out there somewhere?

9. Me too... things have been depressing enough in this country
since 2000 without them taking all the humor away... MS had me getting up at 4 AM, for God's Sakes--willingly!

I would love to slap D. Goldberg. He must surely be a RW plant...

10. See my letter from Marc Maron.
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 03:40 PM by longship
Here is an e-mail I received from Marc Maron this AM.

I miss M.S. very much. It was my morning Cup O' Joe every morning.

I'll miss Lawton, Milf, Mort, Tina the Weather Girl, the INews, Johnny, Angus, Marc "The Shark", Sammy, and all the other lunatics. Morning Sedition was a real gem. It's sad that some people got their shorts all in a bunch about actual humor in progressive radio. No doubt these are the progressive utopians with no sense of humor that we've heard all about.

11. Boy, me too...
although when I was able to listen, I streamed them live from 12h to 15h. I'm six hours ahead of NY time so I often had to listen from the archives. Morning Sedition will go down in history as a classic. Poor Mark Riley sounds like one hand clapping without Marc's comedic brilliance to play straight man for. SG

12. I know this has been discussed somewhere, but why the firing???
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 04:04 PM by jChicago
I'm not always able to read/post on DU so forgive me if this has been discussed umpteen times.

Why was Marc let go? I thought his stuff was amazingly original for radio -- is there anything comparable to it today? Has AAR published anything 'cause if they have, I haven't seen it.

The only fault I thought was a Howard Sternish turn sometimes, for example, when talking about someone who had recently died. I can appreciate HS, but it was a tad embarrassing to hear on a progressive radio show.

15. Marc was let go because...
Danny Goldberg is a "progressive utopian without a sense of humor".

14. me too. I think Riley is most stale and without Maron's
humor, the show is now off for me.
