So ANWR is out..Patriot Act on-hold..ID in the trash bin..

And yet...we have a republican president, a republican house, a republican senate and a republican-leaning supreme court.

Poor republicans, they must be so confused.

I'll clear it up for them.

There apparently some ideas that are just so STUPID, that even the republicans you elect just cannot enact them.

They like the IDEA of those issues because they know these things are at the top of your "wish lists".

Republicans have the numbers and the hubris to get ANYTHING they really want. Sure, they can go on TV and rail against the "obstructionist" democrats, but it's all just a grand game.

The things that are near and dear to right wing republican hearts are just for "show". They smear these issues on the bloody shirt they wave every few years, but it's only to stir up the yokels and fire them up.

Abortion is still legal (for now at least)
ANWR always seems to get saved
Patriot Act is being shown to be the shitty law it always was
Public schools are still relativey secular
Republican company-owners are still hiring "illegals" as fast as they get here
Most American families still have gay people in them

Republican politicians are content, it seems to nibble at the edges of issues, but they do not want to swallow it whole. They talk a good game when they are campaigning and getting yokels to man the phones for them, and to search couch cushions for money, but when it comes time to deliver, they seem to always fall short of giving right wingers what they have paid for.

It's Kabuki theatre, folks. When they DO deliver, it to the lobbyists who give them the big bucks, and it's usually done in secret.

Republicans have been whining for YEARS about how they would love to do this or that,if only they had the power.. Well they have had the power for TEN years, and they have still not delivered.

As a democrat, I am happy that they have been thwarted most of the time, but it's probably just as likely that they don't WANT to enact these stupid laws, as much as the fact that they have been stopped..

Y'all have been HAD...for a long time.

1. But the wealthy are getting their tax cuts, aren't they, at the
expense of the poor and the sick, and that is the one thing they lust for most of all.

3. True.. but tax cuts are not the "base's" main issues.. Elected republicans
are always happy to deliver to their big donors.. and the tax cuts are a pre-emptive strike at the NEXT administration when they have to restore common sense.. I can hear it NOW.. "This adminstration wants to RAISE your taxes":puke:
